Unit 1

1. Balu : How are you?

Gita : I am fine. Thank you.

A : Balu asked Gita how she was and Gita said that she was fine
and thanked him.

2. Srinu : Who are you?

A girl : I am Sirishna, a student of Layola College.

A : Srinu asked a girl who she was and the girl said that she
was Sirisha, a student of Layola College.

3. Venu : Have you completed your work?

Sita : No, I have not.

A : Venu asked Sita if she had completed her work and Sita
said that she had not.

4. Mohan : Are you coming with me now?

Komala : Yes, I am coming with you.

A : Mohan asked Komala whether she was coming with him


then and Komala said the she was coming with him.

5. Rajesh : Where did you see Ravi yesterday?

Rani : I saw him at school.

A : Rajesh asked Rani where she had seen Ravi yesterday and
Rani said that she had seen him at school.

6. Sruthi : Have you completed your work?

Mohan : No.

A: Sruthi asked Mohan whether (if) he had completed his work but
Mohan said that he had not. (Mohan replied negatively)

Unit 2

1. Varun : Please give me a glass of water.

Mohan : Ok

A : Varun requested Mohan to give him a glass of water and


Mohan agreed.

2. The teacher : Use Oxford Advanced Learners’ Dictionary.

The students : Where can we get it, sir?

A : The teacher advised (asked) the students to use Oxford


Advanced Learners’ Dictionary and the students asked him where they could
get it.

3. Raju : Don’t touch the running machine with your hands.

Kavya: What will happen if I touch it?

A : Raju warned Kavya not to touch the running machine with


her hands and Kavya asked him what would happen if he touched it.

4. Vani : If you want, you can go now.

Vamsi : I will not go now.

A : Vani told Vamsi that if he wanted, he could go then and


Vamsi said that he would not go then.

5. Meena : I will not come with you.

Venu : I don’t care.

A : Meena told Venu that she would not go with him but Venu
said that he didn’t care.

6. David : Did you post the letter last Monday?

Rohini : Yes.

A : David asked Rohini whether (if) she had posted the letter the
previous Monday and Rohini replied positively. (Rohini said that she had
posted the letter.)

Unit – 3

1. Vasu : When will you finish your project work?

Hasini : I have already finished it.

A : Vasu asked Hasini when she would finish her project work
and Hasini said that she had already finished it.

2. Mohan : Good morning!

Sridevi : Good morning!

A : Mohan and Sridevi bade good morning each other.

3. Gita : You should attend the classes today.

Ramu: Alas! I have no patience.

A : Gita obliged Ramu to attend the classes that day but Ramu
said sadly that he had no patience.

4. Priya : Hurrah ! I have won the match.

Suman : Congratulations!

A : Priya said joyfully that she had won the match and Suman
congratulated her.

5. Neha : I will give you a cup of coffee.

Guru : No, thanks!

A : Neha offered Guru a cup of coffee but Guru refused her offer
politely.

6. Raghu : My heartfelt condolences to you.

Sneha : Thank you!

A : Raghu expressed (offered) his heartfelt condolences to


Sneha and Sneha thanked him.

Unit 4

1. Mokshitha : I will go to a movie tonight.

Rithwik : I will go to the exhibition.

A : Mokshitha told Rithwik that she would go to a movie that


night but Rithwik said that he would go to the exhibition.

2. Soldiers : Captain, there is an enemy.

Captain : Charge at the enemy.

A : Soldiers told their captain that there was an enemy and the
captain ordered them to charge at the enemy.

3. Rani : Sorry for being so late for your party.

Gopi : You are late, but it doesn’t matter. Some friends have yet to
come.

A : Rani felt sorry for being so late for Gopi’s party but Gopi said
that he was late but it didn’t matter and he added that some friends had yet to
come.

4. John : Can I help you do something?

Shalini : Yes, please help me set the table.

A : John asked Shalini if he could help her do something and


Shalini agreed and requested him to help her set the table.

5. Mahima : Yes! I have done a mistake.

Krishna : Don’t worry. I can forgive you.

A : Mahima committed that she had done a mistake but Krishna


asked her not to worry and said that he could forgive her.

6. The Headmaster : Wait a moment.

Students : Ok.

A : The Headmaster asked (ordered) the students to wait a


moment and the students said that it was ok.

Unit 5

1. Teacher : You should read newspapers daily.

Students : Ok. Thank you!

The teacher advised his students that they should read newspapers
daily and the students obeyed and thanked him.

2. Son : I have a doubt.

Father : Don’t disturb me while I am reading the newspaper.

A : The son asked ( told) his father that he had a doubt but the
father asked him not to disturb him while he was reading the newspaper.

3. Hari : The sun rises in the east.

Uma : The sun sets in the west.

A : Hari said that the sun rises in the east and Uma added that
the sun sets in the west.

4. The airport authorities : Please report one hour early.

The passenger : Ok. I will.

A : The airport authorities requested the passenger to report one


hour early and the passenger agreed and told them that he would.

5. Hyma : Did you finish your work yesterday?

Kiran : No, I didn’t.

A : Hyma asked Kiran whether he had finished his work the


previous day but Kiran said that he had not.

6. A boy : May I use your phone?

A girl : Sure!

A : A boy asked a girl politely if (whether) he might use her


phone and the girl expressed her willingness by saying sure.

Unit 6

1. Sita : How beautiful the Taj Mahal is!

Murali : Yes! I have seen it several times.

A : Sita exclaimed that the Taj Mahal is very beautiful and


Murali agreed and said (added) that he had seen it several times.

2. Ajay : I got the first rank in the essay competition yesterday.

Jaya : Congratulations! I know you have such ability.

A : Ajay told Jaya that he had gotten the first rank in the essay
competition the previous day and Jaya congratulated him and she added that
she knew he had such ability.

3. Rohit : Congratulations! You have passed your examination.

Vanitha : Thank you!

A : Rohit congratulated Vanitha for having passed her


examination and Vanitha thanked him.

4. Son : Why don’t you take tablets daily?

Father : The tablets are not sweet.

A : The son suggested his father that he should take tablets


daily but the father said that the tablets were not sweet.

5. Gopika : I have lost my pen.

Sujan : Don’t worry. I have an extra pen.

A : Gopika told Sujan that she had lost her pen but Sujan
asked Gopitaka not to worry and he said that he had an extra pen.

6. Madhava : Your brother is a lawyer, isn’t he?

Radhika : Yes, he is.

A : Madhava said that Radhika’s brother was a lawyer and


asked her for her confirmation and Radhika confirmed it. OR Madhava said

Radhika’s brother was a lawyer and asked Radhika if he wasn’t and Radhika
said (confirmed) that he was.
