 PREFACE
A programme of work is prepared every year for each Division of the Bureau of
Indian Standards, to indicate the latest position of published Indian Standards
and draft standards at different stages of processing. This programme of work
for Water Resources Division Council (WRDC) has been prepared Sectional
Committee-wise, as on 1st April 2010, and arranged in sequential order of the
Committees.

The scope of WRDC is as under:

‘Standardization in the field of water resources development and management; to

include activities covering utilization of water resources for all uses. In regard to
drinking and industrial water supply, the work shall be confined to making the raw
water available for treatment and distribution. However, Water Code shall include
all facets of technology and engineering covering entire hydrologic cycle. In regard
to water for hydroelectric uses, the work shall include planning and design of
hydroelectric development and powerhouse structures but may not include
generation, transmission and distribution equipment.’

In the programme of work an asterisk mark (*) given before a printed standard
indicates that the standard is under revision and the document is available at
different stages of processing; whereas, a double asterisk mark (**) indicates a
standard identified for revision the document being yet to be prepared. Below
the designation of a published standard, wherever “/ISO…..” standard number
is given, it implies that the Indian Standard is the total adoption of ISO
standards under dual numbering scheme. (The designations such as IS/ISO
9001:2008 also indicate dual number standards.) . Below the designation of a
published standard, wherever “| ISO….” Standard number is given, it implies
that the Indian Standard is technically equivalent to the ISO standard.

It is hoped that this publication will provide the community of standard users a
convenient tool for obtaining the latest information about new and upcoming
standards in the field of Water Resources Development and Management. For
