Project Title Isolation

Section 1: Rationale (Approx 150 words)

Before I started the course I did not know where I was going, throughout the course I have
become a lot more interested in editing and camerawork. I have also learnt so many skills,
before the course I knew nothing about editing and I am very proud of my incamera transitions
and hyperlapse. For my discipline I chose long takes, this is something I have become
interested in and as I have learned about it, I have learned you cannot use it just because you
want to but because it gives a purpose to your film. I believe it will give the purpose of
emotional connection to the characters as they are isolated from everyone else. I believe that
because of what I have learnt and what I know now I will be able to successfully do a long take
and create an emotional connection with audience and characters.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)

I intend to make a short dystopian film; I want it to be about an isolated family and you see it all
in one shot. I believe this will help to get the emotion of the family and how they are all feeling.
I am thinking of having a few short cuts before my long take starts and the aim of this will be to
set the film up. For the beginning I plan on having some shots of supermarkets, new reports
and empty streets to show that no one is around. My dystopian is going to be around COVID-
19 (Coronavirus), I have started to get some research on how it started and figures such as
deaths and recorded cases. I am planning on sending emails containing a questionnaire which
is going to ask questions to gather people opinions on my idea and if they would add or take
anything away from the idea. Even considering the circumstances I think my idea shouldn’t be
too hard to complete, I have my own camera which is a Canon D250 and I have my own
editing software. My idea is also based around an isolated family therefore it can all be shot in
one house and as it is a one shot I wouldn’t need to do masses of editing.

Section 3: Evaluation Methods (approx 150 words)

For my final project I am thinking of evaluation my work in a couple different ways. Firstly, I
want to evaluate weekly on my Weebly page, I find it easier to write an evaluation down than
talk to a camera. I have also recently tried Instagram posts to evaluate, I tried this but posting
about my Berlin trip. I intend to use the app Instagram to post updates on props, locations and
other things used in my final project. However, the Instagram posts will not be as detailed as
the evaluation I put on my Weebly site.

Proposed Research Sources and Bibliography (Harvard Format)

I intend to use many different recourses to research for my film, firstly I intend to use the
internet to get statistics and find out information on COVID-19 which my film is based around. I
also intend to use platform such as social media, this is because I believe as COVID-19 is very
new there will be no books to help and people are always posting information and stories about
it on social media. I also intend to be watching the new as I believe that will also be able to give

me facts to help learn and develop my research and film further. However,
this is not the only type of research I intend to use, I am going to create a questionnaire and
email it to people to get opinions on what they might add or take away, I want to do this soon in
case it adds any drastic changes so I am not too far into the planning stage. I am going to
Harvard reference all of my secondary research and add it to my bibliography.

Project Proposal – Unit 13

Project Action Plan and Timetable

This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of
weeks, and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successful complete your project within the
agreed time frame. It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in
the realisation of the project.
This should include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. The more time and thought
you give to
planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be. Remember to include: time spent sourcing
materials,
questionnaires, access to workshops, tutorial and peer group feedback, and where you will incorporate
independent study
