Synopsis Abstract:
As the name specifies “HOSTEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” is a software developed for
managing various activities in the hostel. For the past few years the number of
educational institutions are increasing rapidly. Thereby the number of hostels are also
5 increasing for the accommodation of the students studying in this institution.And hence
there is a lot of strain on the person who are running the hostel and software's not
usually used in context.This particular project deals with the problems on managing a
hostel and avoids the problems which occur when carried manually identification of the
drawbacks of the existing system leads to the designing of computerized system that will
10 be compatible to the existing system with the system which is more user friendly and
more GUI oriented.

we can improve efficiency of the system by providing "Image processing" . We will also
provide information regarding room allocation,payment options. on their email. Main
20 purpose of our project is to reduce extra work of students due to offline confirmation of
documents.

Literature review:
Hostel management by manual way is tedious process, since it involves work load
and time consumption. In this system, we can easily manage the hostel details,
room details, student records, mess expenditure, mess bill calculation, easy way
15 of room allocation and hostel attendance. Thus, there are a lot of repetition can
be easily evaded which has reduced the data redundancy. (M. Deepika, A. Chitra,
2010)
From lots of hostels very few of them providing online admission procedure like

Approach to solve problems:
After examining all the existing solutions , we jotted down all the prevailing flaws
and problems,worked on each of them individually.
Firstly, we are initiating the hostel Digitization process. After signup all the students
5 will receive SMS and email ID on their registered mobile number and in their email
ID with their login credentials.
In order to build up the perfect database for smooth running and monitoring of the
system we are in the process of uploading all documents pertaining to all existing
boarders onto our website.Now verification process is performed automatically with
10 the help of image processing.
After that merit list will be generated students will be able to pay fees and secure
their place.After successful payment students will receive Acknowledgment of
confirmation on their email ID.

Analysis: performed a survey on the trending application and solution of similar
websites.
Framework: Learning various frameworks, scripting/coding langiages to improve
5 our design.
Prototype: designed the tentative prototype of our project, data flow, scope,
panel and other statistics of this idea.
Current Scenario : we have studied different hostel management system and
some reviews and research papers. We designed overview of our system and how
10 we can improve our digitization of document verification.
