Abstract

SEBI: INTRODUCTION GROWTH AND EVOLUTION

The capital market has witnessed tremendous growth in recent times characterized particularly by the
increasing participation of public so it was felt by the government that to transfer the powers of the
controller of capital issues to an independent body. Later on for this purpose SEBI was created as an
independent body by a statute.

The Researcher has attempted to study the nature and the evolution of Security and Exchange Board of
India along with the general theoretical stances. Its powers and functions, Role of SEBI in development
of indian economy as every modern economy is based on sound financial system which helps in
production, capital and economic growth. Also Issues and Challenges in the contemporary India.
