LAU PA SAT
DOWNTOWN
Lau Pa Sat is a historical and popular
hawker centre located in the heart of the
CBD. During the daytime, CBD workers
come in large numbers for the famous
cuisine in the hawker style setting. By
night, the area (and street) transforms in
to a younger, party scene. Cheap drinks
are enjoyed by large groups amongst the
bright lights and market vibes in outdoor
settings. Satay, prawns and BBQ chicken
wings are some of the favourite dishes sold
by vendors as they approach customers for
table-service.

MAXWELL ROAD
CHINATOWN
Described by many foodies as a must-see
hawker centre, Maxwell Road has over
100 stalls in this culturally dynamic and
bustling location. Chicken rice, congee and
char kway teow are some of the favourite
regional and local dishes here. Fresh juices
and Chinatown market trinket finds are
also just around the corner. Wind chimes,
durian fragrances and open-air courtyards
throughout Maxwell Road transport you
from modern Singapore to a bygone
village era.

NEWTON FOOD
CENTRE
Also known as Newton Circus, Newton
Food Centre is a hawker centre gem
that comes up in nearly every foodie’s
Singapore highlights list, and is frequently
packed with tourists and residents alike.
Satay and seafood and fish ball noodles are
favourite dishes favoured by large groups
enjoying eating together outside as late as
4am. A Singapore icon, the Newton Centre
has developed a strong following since
opening in 1971.
TIONG BAHRU 83
SENG PO ROAD

of one of Singapore’s oldest housing
estates. Favoured by expats and foreigners,
a variety of cuisines that include Indian

modern, vibrant feel. Lor Mee (with shark
meat), Tiong Bahru Pau (dim sum), and
oyster omelette are just some of the
recommended dishes.
CLARKE QUAY

Clarke Quay is a bright and exciting lifestyle precinct along the Singapore River. Combining
dining, nightlife, shopping and adventure activities, you can easily spend a day exploring
the historic site. Once a fishing village, Clarke Quay is now a mixture of the old and the new,
embracing both in its offerings to tourists.

boutiques and multi-level complexes are surrounded by beautiful shady gardens, sculptures,
and dining precincts to re-energise weary shoppers.

SINGAPORE ZOO
Stepping into Singapore Zoo almost
feels like walking into a rainforest in its
natural form. Thick, green forests and a
river surround the large and expansive
animal exhibits. Once through the gates,
the sounds of birds, monkeys and other
animals fill the air despite the animated
buzz from excited tourists.

NIGHT SAFARI
The Night Safari could be Singapore’s
Number 1 nightspot, and not surprisingly
so. Seeing elusive and nocturnal animals
in their element is an intimate and thrilling
adventure for the whole family. Seven
different geographical regions are featured,
and while the more unusual animals are
a hit, seeing the ‘wallaby trail’ featuring
Australian nocturnal natives may also
give some Australian visitors a sense of
patriotic pride.

RIVER SAFARI

from the main zoo. Study each of the
world’s major river habitats with close-up
