Moist Deciduous Forests

Moist deciduous forests are found in regions receiving 100-200 cm of rainfall annually, mainly in the foothills of the Himalayas, Chhota Nagpur Plateau, eastern coastal plains of Odisha, and eastern foothills of the Western Ghats. They shed their leaves during the dry winter and summer months due to lack of moisture and include trees like teak, sal, shisham, hurra, mahua, amla, semul, kusum, bamboo, and sandalwood. Dry deciduous forests receive 70-100 cm of rainfall and are similar but can grow in areas with less rain, found mainly in central India.
