The Lost Princess

Group 5
Prologue
Thirteen years back,
when the young Princess
Selena Amherst of
Allespasia and Prince
Tristane Ashford of
Adilon were only five,
they were best friends
and so were their
parents.
One day, Selena and Tristane were playing out in the
garden of Allespasia. It was filled with green shrubs
and honeysuckles, purple pansies, you name it. It had
a huge fountain with a statue of angels spitting out
water. Around the garden, there were statues of the
kings and queens from the past of the princess's
kingdom.
"Oh." She said. She held
her locket as if it meant
something special to
her, which in fact, it was.
"It was a necklace given
from my mother on my
3rd birthday. She said it
was her grandmother's."
"It's a pretty necklace." He replied.

"Thank yo--" Selena was stopped abruptly when her butler,

Marlo, came out of the back door to the garden.

"Prince Tristane," He called out to the prince. "Your parents are

here. You may now return to Adilon." He bowed down to the
prince and the prince bowed back. He waved to Selena a
goodbye and was escorted by one of the maids of the
kingdom.
Once he left, Selena felt lonely. She sat on the fountain and closed
her eyes....
...And woke up to the smell of smoke and the sound of screams.

"What's happening? Why is everything burning? Am I going to

die?" There were many questions, so many questions running
through Selena's head, but no one was there with to answer
them. She was starting to get worried and frightened.
"My princess, wake up." A deep voice came out.

She looked around, trying to find the source of the sound and found a faint
outline of a man through the smoke. "Who are you?" She asked.

"I am Bogg, milady." He bowed down. "And we must leave now. The rebels have
set fire to our castle. One of our own has betrayed us. We must hurry, or we will
not be able to get out of here alive."

As Bogg started to carry her up, she suddenly remembered something,

something she would carry as a burden until she grew up. Her parents. Her
family. Her friends. The other people and servants inside the castle. What
happens to them?

"Wait!" She screamed. "What about the others?"

"I am very sorry, princess. It was too late. Once we got here, you were the only
one left alive. You are very lucky." Bogg replied.
Tears started streaming down her face. Everything.
Gone. In just minutes. And it was her fault.
Everyone said she had a very keen sense of smell,
as she could smell the bread at the bakery from far
away, and the smell of grease from the upholstery
shop as well. Guilt washed over her. They said that
it was a very special trait that only her and her
great great grandmother had. If only she didn't
sleep, she would have smelled the smoke and
would have been able to warn the others.
Bogg carried her away from the castle, and into his own
group. His group of pirates. Starting from that day, she
built walls around herself, so that no one would get hurt
again because of her. She promised herself that she would
be tough and reminded herself that crying over something
is never an option. What's done is done. You can't do
anything about it anymore except to prevent it from
happening again. So she refused to let anyone close to
her. Until she met someone again. Little did she know that
the pirates would be her family and home for the time
being. And little did she know that she would meet
someone again, someone special, one day, and fall in love.

er...
He kept his eyes on the failing light as the descending
sun tainted everything around him in orange. Winter
was just around the corner in his homeland as the last
sight of crisp leaves and the oh so very pumpkin-y
smell of pumpkin soup entered his mind. As night came
along, he huddled closer and closer until he was but a
large ball of gray while white flurries of snow were sent
careening into his face as the blanket of black above
was covered over by misty, gray clouds. It was a
peaceful night out at sea to say the least, bad
weather, but peaceful.
A shrill laugh meets his ears, the baritone voice of his opponent rings
through his mind "Boy, all of yer men are dead. Just tell us where the
treasure is and we'll leave you alone." The man pauses "Oh wait, never mind.
We've found the vault."

"Please spare my life at least!" Trystane looks up to a large and surprisingly

lean man, his brown eyes flickering with bloodlust as his crooked grin spread
even wider. "Perhaps you may be of use to us...just keep in mind that should
you whine, complain or even whimper you'll be sleeping with the bilge rats."

"W-what do you plan to do to me?!"

"Ransom. We need yer kingdom's gold."

"And possibly silver." Another man cackled.

"Shut up Bogg, no one wants to
hear your idiot mouth." A female
voice replied. Wait. Female? What
would a female be doing with
pirates? Weren't they supposed to
be cooking at home and doing
household chores? Tristane looked
up and saw the most beautiful
woman he had ever seen in his life.
Silky, wavy brown hair, stunning
golden brown eyes, full lips. She
looks familiar, he just couldn't put a
name to her face.
The first task given to him was to get a treasure guarded by a
dragon in the cave of Albathos. It was a very well known cave in
their land, as anyone who dared to venture in that cave to get
the treasure never came back. It was rumoured that the dragon
who was situated at the entrance of the cave breathed fire and
had long and sharp fangs and nails. It was hard to slay it
because its hide was said to be as hard as diamonds, but there
is a vulnerable spot in his armor-like skin, which was said to be
found only by those who have royal blood in their veins. When
Prince Tristane was told that he would be doing this, he
protested greatly.
"Are you joking with me? You are asking me, a well mannered
prince, to kill something? And a fire-breathing dragon at
that? I cannot do this, for my beautiful body would get
harmed!"

Asper laughed, "You must do this, for you promised you

would do whatever we wanted. Unless you want to be
thrown off this ship and fed to the sharks, of course."

Tristane was sure as heck that he wouldn't be able to get out

of this, so he replied, "Fine. But you must come with me."

Asper scoffed. "Then you really must be more of a wuss

than I thought you would be. Okay, I'll come with you."
Once they got to the cave of Albathos, they heard the dragon speaking
at once.

"Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Another pair of daring, greedy
men who want my treasure all to themselves. Oh well, I haven't had human
skin and bones for about, 50 years, so I guess this would be enough."

After battling the dragon for a long amount of time, Asper suddenly
remembered the tale about the dragon of Albathos she had heard of
when she was a child. There was an open spot in its armor that would
immediately kill it when it is stabbed.

There it is! It was under its neck, just before its wings. Tristane hurled the
stone at the dragon's neck, then the dragon immediately collapsed to the
ground, no longer breathing fire.

remembered the tale about the dragon of Albathos she had heard of

immediately kill it when it is stabbed.

She told this to Tristane, who was currently cowering in a corner

cradling his arm that had a small gash.
"Stop being a coward and fight it! Our lives are at stake here. There is a
small open spot in his armor that would kill him instantly if hit."

By this time, the dragon was coming near them. Tristane grabbed a stone,
and looked for that open spot. The dragon was 20 feet away from them.
15 feet. 10 feet.

There it is! It was under its neck, just before its wings. Tristane hurled the
stone at the dragon's neck, then the dragon immediately collapsed to the
ground, no longer breathing fire.

Tristane rejoiced, "I did it! I killed the dragon!"

Asper scoffed, "Hmph. It was a lucky shot."

They got the treasure and went back to their ship.

The second task given to him was to get the magical fruit
from the tree of Beron. It was guarded by a bunch of small
savages, and once again, he asked Asper to go with him.
They completed the mission and were able to get the magic
fruit, but not before Tristane's foot was almost bitten off,
his body tied to a stake carried by the little men, and
Aspen coming right on time to save his "cowardly dungbie
(rear end)". Seriously. Pirates' lingo is weird.
So, he planned an escape.
He built a raft secretly, and
in the middle of the night
tried to leave. Little did he
know that Asper had been
watching him build the raft
the whole time, so she was
able to stop him from leaving
the ship. To be honest, he
wasn't really that discreet.
The third task given to him was to go underwater and get a
pearl as pure as the driven snow. Asper went with him,
even though he did not ask her to come with him. On their
journey down to the bottom of the sea, they faced many
different creatures, and let's just say that most (or
according to Tristane), only some, because he said that
the creatures trying to bite their limbs off only wanted
some food, of the creatures they encountered weren't that
pleasant. They got the magical pearl and went back to the
ship.
He asks Bogg, the person who seems to be the closest
to Asper, about her and the necklace. Bogg answered,
"Se--" his eyes widened. "I mean Asper, had that with
her since she joined us. She said it was given to her by
someone. Maybe you should ask her yourself."

"Who is Se--?" The prince asked.

"No one! Don't mind what I said." Bogg replied hastily.

She waited for the cuss words, insults, and
rocks that would be thrown at her, but
instead got the opposite. The kingdom
rejoiced and held a celebration because the
lost princess that they had been looking for
for years now, has been found.
Although he figured it out already, Tristane
was still astounded by the fact that she was
Selena. No wonder that smart and rebellious
personality of her's seemed so familiar.
Though, she had changed so much physically
and built walls around herself that only certain
people get through, but she is still the same
girl who played in the fields with him and went
with him to the forest. Inside, she's still Selena.
Selena, his best friend, and now, his true love.
