Procedures

Introduction
 “Do you remember the game we played last week with the magic e?”
o “We are going to do another activity where we find the magic e games”

Anticipatory Set/Activating Learning Strategies


 “Here is a video that Jack helps us understand the magic e words and then we will start the activity”

Sequence of Lesson
 Show youtube video
 Give student the CVC/CVCe cards and clothespins
 “These cards show you a picture and four words. You will look at the picture and say the word that it represents. You
will then pick which of the four words says the word of the picture and clip the paper clip to the correct word”
 “Keep the paper clips on the word and put these cards off to the side so I can check them when you finish all of the
cards”
 Show them an example by taking a card, asking them what the picture shows and clipping the paper clips to the correct
word
 Watch to make sure they understand before letting them independently complete the activity

Closure/Summarizing Strategy
 “Was it easier to figure out the magic e words when the picture was given and options so you could see what looks
right?”
Assessment/Evaluation
 Collect the cards with their answers and log the percentage they got right

 Sit with struggling students and say the word slow so they can hear each sound
 Reminders like “what does the e do to the word?”

 Cover up the word options with a sticky note so the student just sees the picture. Have them write what word the
picture shows on the sticky note covering up the words
