Sheikh Ahmed Sir Hindi (1564-1624)

Sheikh Ahmed Sir Hindi lived during the rule of Akbar and opposed Akbar's creation of the new religion Din-i-Ilahi. He showed Akbar that Islam was not just for Arab tribes. He later countered the idea of Wahdut ul Wujood that the creator and creation are the same, which was influenced by Hinduism. Through his letters to Jehangir and others, he helped preserve true Islam in the Mughal Empire and stop the absorption of Islam by outside influences. He is seen as the spiritual guardian of Muslims in the subcontinent.
