AICTE instructs all approved technical institutes to follow social distancing guidelines and orders from the central and state governments during the COVID-19 lockdown. Students should not take internships outside their homes that require travel or contact with others. Ongoing internships that allow work from home can continue. To engage students unable to intern outside, colleges should provide challenging problems for internships that can be completed at home. AICTE will issue more details on complying with internship policies when the situation improves.

Instructions regarding compliance of AICTE'S Mandatory

Internship Policy in current situation

Dear Sir / Madam,

Greetings from All India Council for Technical Education!

In view of the current situation of Nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19, AICTE


directs all its Approved Institutes to abide by all the Social Distancing guidelines and
other measure promulgated by Government of India and respective State
Governments.

Institutes should instruct their students, NOT to take up any Internships outside the
organizations which involves travel, contact with outsiders, etc., However, ongoing
internships, where companies are allowing students to work from home, shall
continue.

Internships helps in creating conditions conducive to the quest for knowledge and its
applicability in work. In order to positively engage students who are not able to get
internships in current situation of lockdown, all colleges/ institutes should give
challenging problems as internship to such students which can be worked upon by
them from their respective homes.

Once the situation improves, AICTE will issue further orders regarding compliance of
Mandatory internships policy of AICTE.
