1. SCOPE
This specification defines the technical requirements for manufacturing, preserving, packing,
furnishing and delivery to purchaser's storage of concentric-lay-stranded bare conductors
25/50/120/185 mm2, made from hard-drawn round aluminum wires for use as overhead
electrical lines.
I.E.C.'s catalogue number: 42341, 43216, 41632, 42127.

2. THRESHOLD CONDITIONS
According to attached documents of supply and storage division.

3. DOCUMENTS FOR THE PROPOSAL


The Bidder shall submit together with his offer the following documents from the manufacturer:
3.1. Valid ISO 9001 certificate as defined in threshold conditions.
3.2. Reference list of major customers, to whom the proposed items or similar have been
supplied, at least 2 years (in the last 5 years), including sold quantities and dates of supply.
3.3. Type tests reports for the proposed items or for a similar including obligation to submit type
test report for the proposed items upon award of bid, (as indicated in para.6 of this
specification).
3.4. Appendix 1: schedule to delivery approval, signed by the bidder and manufacturer.
3.5. Completed and filled in summary of data.
3.6. The outline drawings of the drums.
All documents and drawings shall be in English or Hebrew.
Bidder which will not submit all the above will be disqualified.
”Similar” means aluminum conductor manufactured by the same technology but in a
different cross sectional area.

4. MANUFACTURING STANDARDS
The conductors shall be manufactured and tested in conformance with the latest published
recommendation of the following standards:
– EN 50182 – Conductors for overhead lines – Round wire concentric lay stranded
conductors.
– EN 60182 – Hard-drawn aluminum wire for overhead line conductors.
– DIN 46391 – Delivery drums.

5. PHYSICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES


5.1. The direction of lay of the external layer shall be right hand.
5.2. The wires shall be of aluminum AL1 of the requisite purity to achieve the mechanical and
electrical properties specified hereinafter. The aluminum content shall be not less than 99.5%.
5.3. The wires shall be smooth and free from all imperfections not consistent with good
commercial practice.

6. TESTS INSPECTION AND REPORTS


6.1. Tests (Type and Sample tests) will be made in accordance with the standards mentioned in
par. 4.
6.2. All tests shall be carried out at the manufacturer's works or at a certified laboratory.

7. PACKING
The conductors shall be supplied as indicates below:

7.1. All conductors shall be supplied on non-returnable wooden drums.
7.2. All drums will be internally covered with a chemically neutral material in the winding area,
properly packed and lagged to prevent the conductors from possible damage during shipment.
7.3. An amount not exceeding 5% of the total weight may be shipped in random lengths, none
of which to be shorter than 2/3 of standard length.
