ABSTRACT
This study aims to develop a 3 in 1 griller for easy grill and hard-carry griller that can
be bring anywhere. In making the product the researcher gathered all the needed materials and
equipment. All steel materials were cut according to its precise measure and was assembled
with a welding rod. The stainless plate was molded for the cover, welded with 2 hinges and 2
round bar handle. Blind ribbits were connected using rib biter, several pieces of round bar were
used in making the stand. The aluminium plate was cut for the fryer, the nichrome wire and
heat controller was connected with a wire. Round bar were assembled to make the stand of the
solar panel, the solar panel, adaptor kit, power inerter and battery were assembled and
connected together with the fan. According to Giddings, the amount of heat needed to raise the
temperature of a substance by 1C – is lower for salt water than for fresh water. The
temperature of sea water will get hotter faster than pure water. But still has higher boiling
point, and the mass is still greater when you add salt to the same volume of water, so this
doesn’t mean that the salt water boils faster. The mean of the direct current is M=7.54, in the
solar panel is M= 14.90, the alternating current is M=11.006 and the commercial product is
M=9.32. Therefore, the direct current boils sea water easier than the commercial product.
Moreover, nichrome wire can be used as heating element.
Research Plan
Rationale
Appliances are becoming expensive this day and most of the restaurant could not afford
to this appliances. A side from its buy high cost, you can’t a sure how good its quality is. Griller
is a major appliance that has achieves tremendous popularity over the century. It is use to grill
foods practically in everywhere and in every country of the world. Grilling usually involves a
significant amount of direct radiant heat that helps people to grill food easily.
The commonly used heating element is nichrome wire. It is a wound in wire. It is a
wound in wire coils to a certain resistance and current passed through to produce heat. Nichrome
wire is also helps to less the burn meat in the food. The resistance at nichrome wire will greater
than the copper wire. Therefore, the electric current can flow on the nichrome wire will be
smaller than the copper wire (Murdani, 2016).
Solar energy is the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source available. Solar
energy can also be a conductor of electricity. And when electricity is present within the product,
grilling can now be possible.
Coal is usually used in grilling foods. But they have the difficulty of breathing because of
the smoke that produced by the griller. This product would help people who grill their food
instead of using fan. This can make solecoaller: 3-in-1 portable griller is much safer in using or
handling a product.
In this study, a researcher makes portable solar, electricity and coal griller.
Statement of the Problem
The main problem of this investigatory project is to discover the efficiency of the
experimental product. Specifically, this study will pursue to find answer to the following specific
questions:
1. How long will it take to boil 50ml of seawater using the solecoaller using different
power source in terms of :
1.1 solar panel;
1.2 direct current and;
1.3 alternating current?
2. Is there a significant difference between the acceptability of experimental alternative
current and experimental direct current in terms of:
2.1 boiling time?
3. Is there a significant difference between the acceptability of solecoaller using direct
current and commercial griller in terms of:
3.1 boiling time?
Hypotheses
The researcher will be guided by the following hypothesis to be tested. There is no any
significant difference between the functionality of solecoller using alternating current as power
source and electric griller.
Materials and Equipment
The science investigatory project will be made possible with the use of the following
materials and equipment. 1 stainless steel (35 cm), 10 pieces stainless round bar (30 cm), 10
pieces stainless round bar (5 cm), 4 pieces stainless round bar (22 cm), 2 pieces stainless round
bar(7 inches), 6 pieces stainless round bar (1 feet), 2 pieces stainless round bar (15 inches), 2
pieces stainless round bar (20 inches), 1 stainless plate (14x13 inches), 2 stainless hinges, 25
pieces blind ribbits, 1 aluminum plate (12x8 inches), 1 coil, 1 controller, 1 fan, 12 volts battery, 1
solar panel, 4 adaptor kit, 1 power inverter, female plug and male plug.
On the other hand the equipment that will be utilized in the study are the binder, cutting
disk, ribbiter, electrical tape and electrical insulator.
General Procedure
The materials and equipment needed for this study will be gathered. The stainless steel
will be cut using cutting disk. 10 pieces of 30 cm, 10 pieces of 5 cm, and 4 pieces of 22 cm
stainless round bar. The materials will be assembled using stainless welding rod. The stainless
plate measuring 14x13 will be melded using binder to make a cover. Welded 2 stainless hinges. 2
stainless round bar handle measuring 7 inches will be welded in the stainless plate. 25 pieces of
blind ribbits will be connected using rib biter. 6 pieces of 1 feet stainless bar, 2 pieces of 15
inches round bar and 2 pieces of 20 inches stainless round bar will be assembled to make a stand.
The aluminium plate will be cut using cutting disk measuring 12x8 inches to make fryer.
Assembled the 1 nichrome wire. The 1 nichrome wire and 1 heating controller will be connected
using electric wire. Connect the male plug to the wirings.
30 cm stainless round bar will be assembled to make a stand. 1 solar panel, 4 adaptor kit,
1 power inverter, 12 volts battery will be assembled.
The fan will be connected into the wire. Fan will be assembled.

Testing Procedure
Boiling Time
During time of boiling, 5 trials will be recorded in a certain amount of 50 mL sea water
and 150 degree Celsius of the griller. It can be tested in an alternative current, direct current and
commercial griller. It will observe if the sea water is easy to boil in the experimental product
than the commercial product.
Potential Risk and Safety
In doing the experimentation, make sure that there is a guide from the electrician. Avoid
also of being careless in fixing the wirings. Avoid doing experimentation in a wet place because
there is a possibility to have bad happenings. Make sure that the wirings were fixed well to
avoid flaming.
Data Analysis
The researcher will be obtaining the result using Independent sample T-test for data
analysis.

INTRODUCTION
In this day, grills have been helping us through our culinary journeys, producing
succulent recipes loaded with nutrients and incentives to binge eat almost everything that comes
off top of its grates. (Donglos, G.,2017). It is a form of cooking that involves dry heat applied to
the surface of the food. It is also an alternative in cooking foods that uses oil.
In our country, there are many street vendors selling grilled foods. However, other street
vendors find it hard to sell their goods, because of the type of griller they used. Traditional
grillers have been hazy and exerting a lot of energy for heating the traditional griller by using
fan.
Nichrome wire is a heating element or a material that allows the electricity to pass
through it and offers certain resistance that produce heat. This nichrome wire will be the heat
supply for the griller. Nichrome wire is an alloy made from nickel and chromium. It resists heat
and oxidation and serves as heating element. The wire can be found in laboratories, construction
and specialized electronics. Nichrome is resistant to heat and corrosion in water, and when
heated, it forms a thin layer of chromium oxide that makes it practically immune to oxidation
(Flournoy B.,2018). On the other hand, solar panel is devices that convert light into electricity
and this will serve as the electric conductor of the griller. These two materials will make the
griller more efficient than the other grillers.
In this study, the researcher will use nichrome wire and solar to make 3-in-1 alternative
griller. It is also oil base wire so if the oil spills in it, it won’t damage anything and it is much
safer than the ordinary wire. This study is not that big not like the other griller so the
experimental product is more likely a hard-carry griller that can be bring anywhere. It uses an
extraordinary wire. Moreover, this study conserve energy by using it’s alternative current is
having a non-hassle grilling and making this griller more handy griller, safer construction of
griller.
The experimental product lessens the hazy and burned fats of the meat while grilling. It
uses three different electric heat sources to grill. However, this study is limited on burning fats of
the meat while grilling it and it is easy to use.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
The science investigatory project was made with the use of the following materials and
equipment. 1 stainless steel (35 cm), 10 pieces stainless round bar (30 cm), 10 pieces stainless
round bar (5 cm), 4 pieces stainless round bar (22 cm), 2 pieces stainless round bar(7 inches), 6
pieces stainless round bar (1 feet), 2 pieces stainless round bar (15 inches), 2 pieces stainless
round bar (20 inches), 1 stainless plate (14x13 inches), 2 stainless hinges, 25 pieces blind ribbits,
1 aluminum plate (12x8 inches), 1 coil, 1 controller, 1 fan, 12 volts battery, 1 solar panel, 4
adaptor kit, 1 power inverter, female plug and male plug.
On the other hand, the equipment were utilized in the study are the binder, cutting disk,
ribbiter, electrical tape, electrical insulator, grade thermometer and pyrex beaker.
PRODUCT MAKING
The researcher gathered all the materials and equipment needed in the preparation. The
stainless steel was cut using binder measuring 35 cm. The stainless round bar was cut using
cutting disk. 10 peices of 30 cm, 10 pieces of 5 cm, and 4 pieces of 22 cm stainless round bar.
The materials were assembled using stainless welding rod. The stainless plate measuring 14
inches by 13 were molded using binder to make a cover. Welded 2 pieces stainless hinges. 2
pieces stainless round bar handle measuring 7 inches were welded in the stainless plate. 25
pieces of blind ribbits were connected using rib biter. 6 pieces of 1 feet stainless round bar, 2
pieces of 15 inches stainless round bar and 2 pieces of 20 inches stainless round bar were
assembled to make a stand. The aluminum plate was cut using cutting disk measuring 12 inches
by 8 to make fryer. Assembled the 1 nichrome wire The 1 nichrome wire and 1 heating controller
were connected using electrical wire.
30 cm stainless round bar were assembled to make a stand for the solar panel. 1 solar
panel, 4 adaptor kit, 1 power inverter, 1 12volts battery were assembled. Connect the male plug
to the wirings.
Connect the fan into the 36 cm wire. Assembled the fan.

The experimental product was tested by trials. The researcher made 5 trials for the
boiling time. Figure 2 showed how long it takes time to boil a sea water with a the same amount
of 50mL of sea water and 150°C temperature grill.
CONCLUSION
Based on the results gathered from the testing made, the researcher drawn the
following conclusion.
The mean of the direct current in boiling water is M= 7.54, in the solar panel is
M=14.90, in the alternating current is M=11.06 and in the commercial product is
M=9.32.Therefore, the experimental product (direct current) is easy to boil sea water than the
commercial product. Moreover, the nichrome wire was can be used as heating element.

One of the major problem in our country is there are many street vendors selling grilled

they used. Traditional grillers have been hazy and exerting a lot of energy for heating the
traditional griller by using fan. Thus I, Jenell M. Manongsong, student researcher from Bansud
National High School , worked on this science investigatory project entitled Solecoller 3-in-1
Portable Griller.
This study aims to develop a multi-purpose grill that has direct current, solar and coal. It
is much easier to use than the other griller and you can easy bring it anywhere.
