In 1929, the Times hired Stanley Morison to create a new font. Morison led the project and drew
the letter forms. The first use of the font. He was an adviser of the British Monotype
Corporation. Also, he helped create Gill Sans, and Perpetua.
3. Why the font is significant in the history of typography.
a. We use the Times New Roman font in so many things. It has become
the standard font for MLA format. It became so popular because it was
in the daily newspaper. So, people thought it was a good idea to begin
using in books, documents, and other uses.

a. It is actually the default font used for legal documents.
b. Most people believe Times New Roman is such a boring font. Quoted
