when and with whom he will acquire his target. He has to consider his resources
and ability in this step.

Day to Day Decision Making Process to Make His Organizations

Competitive

Manager of any organization needs to decide how to face and solve many routine and
non-routine situational problems. Our selected manager is not exception in this field. He
also takes many decisions concerned about his branch and HR department. If he faces
routine situational problem, he reviews the previous solution of that problem and tries to
apply that changing some of its elements if needed. In case of non-routine problem or
new trouble, he thinks himself and consults with concerned parties such as
subordinates, colleagues, superiors, outsiders etc. If additional information is needed,
he also collects those. In short, it can be said that he does the entire required job to
solve any problem. He also takes decisions about the employee division, planning,
organizing, controlling, and motivating his employees, recruitment of new employees,
promotion, and training by consulting with others which is the best way to take any
decisions. To make his organization more competitive, he considers his competitor's
strategies. Then he generates his organization's strategies combining all the good
30
policies of his competitor. This process is more helpful for making the organizations
more competitive.

Communication

Communication skill is very important for manager, otherwise he will lose the track of
competition. It is the interpersonal transfer from one place to another. Communicating is
not giving outstanding presentation or dealings; rather it means to understand
something 100% by employees from manager according to our manager. Manager has
some goals and targets. So he wants to share the plan and progress towards his
employees. So good communication is must needed. When one will understand others
need, then it can be ensured. It is also called the biggest tool of present management.
Again if one wants to be leader, he should definitely follow these rules. Communicating
with stakeholders can give the company big profit. So a manager should learn the
process of sender, encoding, medium, decoding, receiver and feedback. He should also
use underscore and explore strategy as much as possible where the issues are
discussed and explained. Our manager also suggests us to develop body languages
which create a good impression towards customers. It is important to maintain
consistency in appearance used in all kinds of communication. Without this consistency,
the message will not be effective and it can confuse or distract the target audience.

Human Resource and Team Work

Then managing human resource is one of the great challenges for manager. The
proactive acquisition, retention, and development of human resources are necessary for
organizational success. Effective human resource can bring the institution to high level.
For this thing, the manager has to prepare them like this. When employees will perform
their task assuming their own task, then the work can be done properly. As our
company is bank institution, it seeks for bringing customers offering good behaviour and
other facilities. For example, in the account section the delay of work may be happened,
and then our customers can be diverted with good seating place with a cup of coffee so
that they may not feel uncomfortable. A manager has sometimes various things to do at
a time, and then he chooses the priority basis system. Those who don’t get the chance
30
in first place, receive accompany of selected employees to discuss over various issues.
The employees of the bank also tell the benefit of young entrepreneurship and banking
facilities so that the customers may not get bored in one hand and on the other hand
advertising is done. Our manager gives importance on finishing tasks before the time so
that everyone can be relaxed and does the job effectively and efficiently. Team work is
also very important for establishing goals and objectives. In this case proper
communication and trust can help team activities. So he always motivates his
employees in these ways. He usually gives freedom or ownership to his employees to
make the task easier. He assigns his each employees with certain goal and specific
times to complete the work as a result employees can do the job in his own way. He
mainly focuses on his employee’s work productivity to solve everyday’s problems and
shares his responsibility with them in case of his absence. In major issues he
participates himself. He also likes friendly atmosphere and dislikes rude behavior.
Because he thinks convincing employees is more successful than rebuking them to do
the work.

Our manager also motivates his employees by rewarding them with various things such
as applauding one in front of everyone of his success. He also gives certificate to the
successful one. In this way he thinks the human resource can be effective and efficient.

Negotiation

Then he discusses with us with the negotiating factor. He was also very pleased to
discuss negotiating factor with us because nowadays without this skill, the manager is
sure to lose the track. He also mentioned that he has clients like Grameen Phone, North
South University, and Apollo Hospital etc. And Grameen Phone’s CEO, CFO, CMO are
highly skilled to whom he has to negotiate all the time to gain profit. In this case he gave
the example of taking loans. Clients or customers try to take the loan giving less interest
on the money and on the other hand manager tries to increase the rate of interest. He
negotiates even for .25 paisa which is very rare because in 200 crore taka it means
great profit. Otherwise he is going to be looser. For this skill practice is immense
because without continuous practice, it is hard to develop skills like negotiation. He has
30
to make out the deal by making good communication with negotiation as well. He also
said that one may have very good subject knowledge but he cannot express those
ideas particularly only for the lacking of good communication and negotiation practice.
So it is also another important skill for efficient manager.

Organizational Changes

Our global is changing very rapidly as a result the organization also has to be prepared
for adopting any kinds of changes. Previously the managing team needed not to have
any knowledge over technology. But without learning technology, the organization
cannot be run well. Nowadays online banking and mobile banking are taking the place
of traditional banking system. If manager does not adopt this technology, he may be
cheated. So he needs to operate computer, smart phones, internet, e-business, tabs
etc. If he still now goes with big bundles of accounting book, he cannot be in the
competitive field. For organizing bank, he even needs to learn complicated software
system. These kinds of changes are like routine in today’s workplace. For being
adaptable team player, he can’t avoid it. He has to see the changes positively and see it
as an exciting opportunity to learn and grow. Organizations are continuously shifting,
growing, downsizing, merging, and acquiring people and resources. Developments in
technology mean that he needs to learn new ways of working and communicating. He
also needs to know how to cope with even smaller changes. Change can bring amazing
opportunities and it can lift an entire team up. He should always take surveys of his
proceeding and to motivate employees with these changes.

Quality improvement

After adapting changes, quality improvement is necessary. Training can improve the
quality of employees. NCC bank arranges different types of training programs for
employees around the year on banking and improving its quality. Timely meeting can
also help in this case. Our manager often calls branch meeting and inspire employees
to keep themselves up to date. He also encourages them to study current banking
affairs and other business journals. He often himself visits various banks and branches
in his off time, learns their tactics and applies them in his field.
30
Monitoring

He always follows up what is going on in his bank. He fits lots of security camera in his
room so that he may control whenever he wants. He gives the assurance to his
customers that they will not wait for the cash more than 5 minutes, if it exceeds he
immediately calls his employee and takes corrective actions which he can see through
his cameras. He also controls different section of his branch and makes sure of his
presence as a result his employees always remain pro-active.

Other Aspects of Manager's Job

There are some other aspects of manager’s job and those are given below:

In Decision Making: He believes that participative decisions and tasks are better
than that of individual and for that reason he always discusses with his junior or other
assistant manager before taking decisions. It’s good. But it’s not effective for every
situation. Because sometimes different types of situation creates suddenly and manager
has to take quick decision for that particular situation. So he has to build his capability of
taking quick right decisions for the right time. If he can’t make this capability he, his
employee and also his whole organization will face difficulties. So, if he divides his
decision making process into two part like,

i. Participative decision making process for long term or short term goals.
ii. Quick decision making process for sudden occurrence.

We think these will make him more effective.

In Motivating: He always tries to motivate his employee by giving bonus, promotion,

increasing salary etc. These are extrinsic rewards. He can also motivates his
employees by giving two more things, like:

i. Intrinsic Reward like, recognition, accomplishment etc. and these will give
them personal satisfaction when they will do their performance.
30
ii. Flex time facility, which will give the employees some freedom to choose
when to work, as long as they work the required number of hours. This will
also motivate them to do their work.

In Achieving Goals: Being a manager he always tries to achieve his goals without
making defects. It’s better to follow “six sigma qualities” which allows only 3.4 defects
per million opportunities. It will increase his effectiveness and efficiency.

Conclusion

NCC Bank is a private bank, being a private bank’s manager he always tries to be
competitive by doing different kinds of work. He always tries to be updated .He believes
that communicating and negotiating skill helps a worker to be a good leader and good
manager. We find different lacking in his job. If he can overcome his lacking he will be
more competitive. As his company's has many lacking so that he is facing many
difficulty. Like NCC Bank has no online banking system, lack of ATM Booth, lack of
facilities to trained their employees etc. He has to face many unethical issues which
hinder his as well as his company's ways to do their job frequently. He also said that
education is very important to be a good manager.

In short we can say that we learn many things about managerial skills, tolls, strategy
etc. from his conversation. It is important for every manager to have these skills. It is
necessary for every organization to fix up their goal first then plan for this and then
technically go for this. Managers are those persons whom are very much responsible
for doing these jobs and getting them successful. It is important for every new manager
to follow some managerial rules, strategy, ethical issues etc. Beside, these he has to be
practical, updated to cope with the new environment.
