HP Thin Client - HP t630 Flexible Thin Client Support Considerations
Introduction
Product overview
The HP t630 Flexible Thin Client is an ideal choice for client virtualization environments. The product
allows a great deal of flexibility for the customer to tailor the client for their specific uses. The HP t630
Flexible Thin Client leverages most of the technologies included with the HP t620, but also provides
additional features.
The HP t630 Thin Client provides added serial features to support legacy and future peripheral support,
particularly in specific retail environments. This includes PS/2 and serial ports, an optional VGA output, and
front and rear USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. The t630 also supports an optional Wi-Fi/Bluetooth or external
Wi-Fi antenna system, which is important in supporting workstations on wheels (WOW) mobile carts often
found in healthcare environments.
The HP t630 offers single 8G memory modules, which make the system run in a single channel slower,
giving the customer better upgrade options.
This product offers the following flexibility:
• Operating Systems options Extra! Extra!
– Microsoft WES 7E 32-bit or Win 10 IoT 64-bit The HP t630 Flexible Thin

HP t620 hardware removed from the HP t630 Flexible Thin Client
The following adjustments from the HP t620 hardware have been made to the hardware of the HP t630
Flexible Thin Client.
• The HP t620 had a non-adjustable (fixed in place) stand. The HP t630 has an adjustable stand only.
• The HP t630 does not have a port/cable cover.
• The HP t630 does not have a hood sensor. The APU is embedded in the HP t630 so there is a
minimal risk of critical, expensive components being removed from the chassis without
authorization.
• The HP t630 does not offer 2 GB SODIMM memory modules. The minimum memory module for the
t630 is 4 GB.
• The HP t630 does not have a parallel port. It has a built in serial port and a second (optional) serial
port instead.
• One of the two internal USB 3.0 connectors has been removed from the t630. It has one internal
USB connector only.
Powered serial port option
The HP t630 Flexible Thin Client adds a built-in serial port with an optional secondary serial port. The
powered serial port option is not available on the HP t620.
The built-in serial port may optionally be configured as a 5V powered serial port with the following
characteristics:
• By default, the serial port is not powered.
• There is a customer adjustable jumper to set the port to powered:
– Jumper E43 for 5V on Pin# 9
– Jumper E44 for 5V on Pin# 5
