1. General
Removal of the propeller governor and attaching parts is described in Chapter 72-00-00 of
this manual. Install appropriate propelelr governor applicable to engine/aircraft installations.
All relevant overhaul procedures for the propeller governor are described in the Woodward

PROPELLER GOVERNOR - LIGHT OVERHAUL
1. General
A. Light overhaul constitutes a servicing to eliminate a problem or defect for which an
engine or propeller governor has been returned to an overhaul facility (Ref. 72-00-00,
LIGHT OVERHAUL).

5. Light Overhaul
A. Propeller Governor and Related Parts for Condition
(1) Engine immersion in water.
(2) Overspeed.
(3) Unusual oil conditions.
(4) Propeller governor returned from maintenance facility as unserviceable.
(5) Dropped engine.
(6) Sudden stoppage.
(7) Contamination by fire extinguishing agents.
(8) Oil contamination.
(9) Lightning strike.
B. Procedure for Engine Immersion in Water, Overspeed, Dropped Engine, Sudden
Stoppage, Contamination by Fire Extinguishing Agents, Oil Contamination and Lightning
Strike
(1) Remove propeller governor from engine (Ref. 72-00-00, DISASSEMBLY).
(2) Service governor using procedures described in Accessories Overhaul Manual.
(3) Re-install governor on engine (Ref. 72-00-00, FINAL ASSEMBLY).

C. Procedure for Unusual Oil Conditions
(1) When no metal particles are found in lubrication system, service governor using
procedure in Paragraph B., preceding.
(2) When metal particles are found in lubrication system, proceed as follows:
(a) Remove propeller governor from engine (Ref. 72-00-00, DISASSEMBLY).
(b) Disassemble governor using procedures described in Accessories Overhaul
Manual.
(c) Clean oil-wetted steel parts.
(d) Demagnetize oil-wetted steel parts and repeat cleaning.
(e) Continue inspection and service in accordance with Accessories Overhaul
Manual.
(f) Re-install governor on engine (Ref. 72-00-00, FINAL ASSEMBLY).
D. Procedure for Propeller Governor Returned from Maintenance Facility as Unserviceable
Overhaul propeller governor using procedures described in Accessories Overhaul
Manual.
