1.1 Education Models 2.1.2 Compare Educational Models and Explain How They Impact The Classroom

This document compares two educational models: student-led classrooms and teacher-led classrooms. A student-led classroom allows students to teach themselves in small groups, which can help develop independence and confidence, but may lead to distraction or confusion. A teacher-led classroom provides consistent instruction from an expert, but a one-size-fits-all approach may not meet individual student needs. Both models have benefits and limitations depending on the specific students and subject matter. An effective classroom likely incorporates elements of both approaches to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.

2.1.2 Compare Educational Models and Explain how they Impact the
Classroom

A pedagogy is a method of how we choose to teach lessons according to what we know about

how our students learn. There are many ways to get information and material out to students in

a classroom. The two big ways you can do it is: you can have a teacher led classroom or

student led classroom. There are plenty of benefits to both but there are also plenty of negatives

as well.

A student led classroom is when the teacher takes a step back and lets the students teach

themselves or work in small groups in order to get the information that needs to be learned.

Some of the positives to this learning style are, it teaches students to be independant and get

things done on their own, it could give them more confidence when it comes to school, they will

be able to teach it to themselves how they learn best and it lets them be creative. Benefits for

the teacher in this scenario could be it can help them differentiate between different types of

students, it gets students engaged and you can see the different types of personalities your

students have, such as who is a leader or who is a follower.

There are also negatives to student led classrooms for example, t it could cause confusion on

materials in the lesson, students could get distracted easily and soon become off topic, which

could end up leading to the teacher needing to be more involved than they are supposed to be,

also this could be very hard for students that rely more on the teacher and aren't as independent

as some of their peers. For the teacher some negatives are it could end up being more work
because you will need to get different materials for the different types of learner you have based

on their needs or how they go about learning things.

During my class we talked about different types of students and their different needs (1.1.1).

Each student learns differently, especially those with disabilities. Therefore teachers need to be

well rounded and give every student what they need based on their learning style. This could be

used during student led lessons because it shows each student is different and needs different

things therefore they will teach themselves in a different way than the rest of their classmates.

But, a teacher led class also has its positives and negatives. Teacher led means that the

students are all getting the same information from the same person and doing the same work as

the rest of their class. Positives for the students could be, they are getting the correct

information from the expert that knows what they are teaching inside and out and they have the

ability to ask questions if they are confused and get answers to help their understanding. Some

positives for the teacher could be, they can explain it how they want to and they can make

formative assessments whenever they want so they know where their students are in the

lesson.

There are also some negatives to this way of learning. For example, how the teacher is teaching

the students might not fit every student's learning style, which could cause students to need

extra help from an outside source. And for teachers it will be harder to know where every

student is and keep in touch with everyone unlike if they were doing it themselves and the

teacher can check their work while figuring out where they are at in their learning.
In conclusion there are different ways that teachers can run their classroom and it might be

different for different classes. It all just depends on who their students are and how they learn

best.
