Your future is governed principally by what you think is possible. So if your thinking is limited, your future will be limited.
Enlightened people know that every human being is endowed with a power that stretches beyond most people’s imagination.
The reason is that they “think” differently from other people. They rely on super-conscious mind (soul awareness) – a level
of intuitive intelligence that transcends reason and experience – to understand themselves and the world around them.
Other people rely only on conscious mind – ordinary everyday thought and feeling - which is governed chiefly by what they
have experienced in life, what they have been taught, and social expectations.

There are two big lies that permeate the culture and hold people back. Both are functions of ordinary, limited, conditioned
ways of thinking. The first lie is “You can’t have the wonderful life you’ve dreamed of. It just isn’t out there.” The second lie
is “The dream of a great life – health, financial security, love and happiness – is out there, but not for you. You’re not good
enough.” These are among the most evil and harmful falsehoods perpetuated by the conditioned, conscious mind. Do not
believe them. Whatever your station in life or your history – even if you have known a life of hardship and have no wealth
or status – I assure you that your thoughts about who you are and what you can do are too small.

There is a Hindu fable that speaks to this issue. There was a lioness who was hunting sheep while she was pregnant. She
gave birth and died, and the sheep raised her baby. The little lion soon became certain he was a sheep. He would bleat and,
when there was a threat, he would run away in fright. One day an adult lion came along and said “What are you doing?”
He grabbed the young lion by its neck, carried it to a pond so it could see its reflection, and said “Look, you are a lion, not
a sheep. You are not designed to bleat and run away in fear. You are designed to roar, and let the trees and everything else
shake in fear of you. Recognize your power. You are a lion.”

The moral of the story is: you are a lion, operating under the conditioned illusion that you are a sheep! Every human being
has limitless potential because the power of the human mind is infinite. Everyone possesses “super-conscious mind” (what
people of faith commonly refer to as “soul”) – a level of mind with unlimited knowledge and power. If you could experience
your own super-conscious mind, you would realize how powerful you are, free yourself from conditioned ways of thinking,
and lead a life of unlimited possibilities. The first step toward freedom is to understand this is true. The second step is to
“know” it is true by experiencing your own super-conscious awareness, the intuitive intelligence of your soul, which knows
no limitation and has the power to change the course of future events.

The surest path to experiencing your own super-conscious mind is to meditate every day. Even a little daily meditation will
free you from the prison of conscious mind. People who are confined by conscious mind are prone to illness, depression,
anxiety and unhappiness. People who rely on super-conscious mind (soul awareness) live lives characterized by health,
happiness and accomplishment, unlimited by social status, gender, heredity, poor finances or any other circumstance.

Meditation is the single most effective means you have at your disposal to heal yourself and master your own destiny.
Researchers have identified a huge array of benefits that derive from meditation. Studies show that meditation improves
disease-resistance, circulation, vitality and stamina. It is instrumental in the management of chronic pain, lowers high
blood pressure, elevates immune system functioning, and results in faster rates of recovery from illness. Meditation has
been effectively employed in the treatment of cancer, auto-immune problems, and many other types of chronic and
debilitating health concerns. It is proven to relieve depression and anxiety, increase mental peace and clarity and conquer
stress. Its ability to cause expanded states of spiritual awareness is well-understood and well-documented by the great
teachers of all world religions.

A lot happens when you meditate, provided you have a good method and use it correctly. During meditation, the energy that
flows through your peripheral nervous system is withdrawn into the spine and channeled up to the brain. This phenomenon
is known as “magnetic pull” and it has two effects: it causes the body to enter a state of restful rejuvenation and it super-
charges the brain and mind with the energy needed to experience higher states of awareness. Another important thing
accomplished in meditation: it “silences” the cycle of everyday thought and feeling in the conscious mind. Silence this
“chatter,” and your own intuitive super-conscious mind (soul perception), which is usually drowned-out by the noise of
everyday thought and feeling, will naturally come to the forefront of your awareness. At the super-conscious level, your
“thinking” is so powerful, you can use it to heal yourself, your loved ones, or the world around you.

Here is a simple meditation method that has good magnetic pull and has been well-researched for effectiveness. To do it,
turn off the phone and sit comfortably with back, head and neck reasonably straight so as to foster a smooth flow of energy
up the spine. You can lay back on a recliner or bed, but be careful not to go to sleep. Now, close your eyes and let your
awareness go inward. If you are a person of faith, start with a brief prayer or invocation for Divine guidance.

Next, lift your eyes up comfortably behind closed lids as if you were looking at a far away mountain peak in the center of
your range of vision. The scientific reason for this is based on neurological studies which show that keeping your eyes lifted
will foster a calm, focused mind. If your eyes are looking straight ahead, you will likely engage in a stream of analytical
thought (“don’t forget that report that’s due tomorrow, or to buy groceries for dinner,” and so on), and if your eyes are
lowered, you will likely fall asleep. The spiritual reason for keeping your eyes lifted is that your portal to super-conscious
mind is in your forehead. In the East, the existence of the spiritual Third Eye in the forehead is well understood and well
documented. In western religion, this reality is less widely understood, though when Jesus said “If thine eye be single, thy
whole body be full of light,” he was referring to the Third Eye, or single eye of soul perception in the forehead.

Now you are ready to meditate. You can do it in three easy steps:

Observe your breathing - don’t time or control it, just let it go in and out on its own (if you’re a beginner, do this for
about two minutes).

Next, for the length of the out-breath only, mentally say to yourself the sound “Om,” which sounds like the word “home”
without the “h” - electroencephalograph studies show that silent repetition of Om causes brain waves to become relaxed
while increasing mental focus and clarity (if you are a beginner, try this for about three minutes).1
In all likelihood, you’re going to drift off into a thought or a daydream while you’re practicing the method – as soon as
this happens, let go of what you’re thinking and come back to the method: Om on the out-breath.

With practice of this method, you will gradually drift off less and less. Think of a glass jar filled with mud and water. If you
shake it and put it on a table, at first you see a million specks whirling about. Those specks are like the everyday thoughts
and feelings of the conscious mind. As you let the jar sit still on the table however, you’ll see the specks settle down until
the water above the mud becomes crystal clear. Similarly, if you meditate every day for 15 minutes, you’ll soon find that
conscious thought and reactive emotion settle down and stop completely. At that point your mind becomes like the clear
water in the jar. You will then naturally experience your own super-conscious intuitive wisdom — a level of awareness,
higher knowledge and power that exists behind your everyday thoughts and feelings.

When you begin to reap the benefits of super-conscious mind – improved health, peace, harmony, and insight - you will
naturally want to extend the time you spend in meditation. When you get to the point where you are meditating 30 minutes
or more each day, you will be able to tap the power of super-conscious mind to realize any noble dream or ambition.

1 People sometimes have trouble using the sound “Om” in meditation because it sounds too foreign. If this is you, please be aware that the sound
of Om to the Hindu is the same as Amen to the Jew, Christian or Egyptian, Amin to the Muslim, Aum to the Tibetan, or Hum to the Buddhists of
Southeast Asia. It is a sound that is heard in deep meditation – literally the “hum” of the universe at work creating and sustaining life as we know it.
If chanting this sound feels uncomfortable to you, you can choose to chant an analogous sound from your own religious or philosophic perspective,
provided you put the emphasis on the correct syllable (i.e. Amen would be chanted as Aummm-en). Other words or sounds can be used during
meditation, but they may not have the same degree of power as “Om,” which has been scientifically validated for effect.
