The Third Engineer DUTY

The Third Engineer is responsible to the Second Engineer for maintaining engine room watch duties, overseeing the main propulsion engines, auxiliary engines, boilers, and adopting safe working practices. The Third Engineer is also responsible for specific auxiliary equipment including generators, purifiers, pumps, lifeboat engines, sewage and sanitary systems. The Chief Engineer and Second Engineer can assign additional duties as needed.

The Third Engineer is responsible to the Second Engineer for:

 The maintenance of Engine Room Watch / UMC Duty Engineer as Required.


 The Maintenance of an Engine Room Particulars attention to the Main Propulsion Engines.
Auxiliary Engines and Boilers.
 The Adoption of Safe Working Practicies.
 The Other Duties assigned to him by the Ch. Engineer and Second Engineer
as appropriate.

Engines Water Test and Treatments
Emergency Generator
HFO Purifiers and Systems
D.O Purifiers and System
HFO & DO Bunkering and Transferring System
Life Boat Engine
Sewage Plant and Systems
Sanitary System and Pumps
Fresh water System and Pumps
Incinerator
Mooring Winch
Mooring Windlass
Special Tools of Department Equipment
