Covid-19 (Corona Virus Disease)

The document discusses COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It describes how coronaviruses can cause respiratory illnesses of varying severity in humans and animals. COVID-19 was first identified in Wuhan, China in late 2019 and has since spread globally in a pandemic. Signs of COVID-19 infection include cough, fever and shortness of breath. While most cases are mild, about 20% develop severe symptoms requiring hospitalization. There is currently no vaccine or cure for COVID-19, so prevention efforts focus on hand washing, masks and social distancing.

COVID-19 (CORONA VIRUS DISEASE)

According to the explanation of the WHO site, coronavirus is a large family

of viruses that can cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, some
coronaviruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from ordinary flu to
more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe
Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
The most recent Corona Virus found to be a Covid-19 disease. From the
WHO page, SARS-CoV-2 is the name of the virus that caused the disease Covid-19.
The name was given by Coronavirus Study Group (CSG) of the International
Committee for the Virus taxonomy or the International Committee on Taxonomy of
Viruses (ICTV) on 12 February 2020.
The World Health Organization (WHO) named Covid-19 which is the name
of the disease caused by Corona virus or SARS-CoV-2 virus. The name is announced
by the Director general of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebrejesus on 11 February 2020
in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to Tedros, the name was chosen to avoid stigmatization, references
to specific geographical locations, animal species, or groups of people in accordance
with international recommendations. An explanation of the name acronym, namely
that "co " means "corona ", "vi " to "virus ", and "D " to "disease", and the number
19 behind it refers to the year of the emergence of 2019. On 30 January 2020 Covid-
19 was declared an international public health emergency.
The Koronavirus or coronavirus (the popular term: the Korona virus, Corona
virus, or Corona virus) is a collection of viruses from the subfamily
Orthocoronavirinae in the Coronaviridae family and order Nidovirales. This group of
viruses can cause diseases in birds and mammals (including humans). In humans, the
koronavirus causes a generally mild respiratory tract infection, such as a cold,
although some forms of disease such as SARS, MERS, and COVID-19 are more
lethal in nature. The clinical manifestations appear quite diverse in other species: in
chickens, Koronavirus causes upper respiratory tract disease, whereas in cows and
pigs cause diarrhea. There has been no vaccine or antiviral drugs to prevent or treat a
koronavirus infection in humans.
Wuhan is the seventh-largest city in China, with a population of over 11
million people. It is the main transport hub of central China, which is located about
700 miles (1100 km) south of Beijing, 500 miles (800 km) west of Shanghai, and 600
miles (970 km) to the north of Hong Kong. Wuhan Airport has direct flights to many
major European cities: six weekly flights to Paris, three times to London, and five
times to Rome.
In December 2019, there were a group of cases of "pneumonia" unknown to
the cause "which is associated with the Huanan seafood wholesale market. The
market has thousands of stalls selling various animals, such as fish, chickens,
pheasants, bats, guinea pigs, venison snakes, deer spots, and other wild animals.
Once the Korona virus is known as the cause of this disease, suspicion arises that the
new Korona virus is sourced from animals.
Most korona viruses circulate among animals, but the six species evolved and
were able to infect humans, as seen in severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS),
Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), and four korona viruses Others that
cause mild respiratory symptoms such as colds. His sixth can be transmitted from
human to human.
What are the signs or symptoms of a korona virus-infected person?
In the WHO's glance, the signs of those who are infected with corona new types of
viruses are coughing, shortness of breath, to experiencing breathing difficulties. In
more severe cases, infections can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome,
renal failure, and even death. Business Insider is preaching, most cases of Covid 19
are relatively mild. However, about 20 percent of patients have a severe illness that
causes the condition to become very critical.
How does corona virus symptoms evolve from day to day?
• Day 1 The patient has a fever. His body may also experience some sort of fatigue,
muscular pain, and dry cough. Some may experience diarrhea or nausea one or two
days in advance.
• Day 5 There are patients who have difficulty breathing. This condition usually
occurs in those who are elderly or have a history of other previous diseases.
• Day 7 on the 7th day, according to the Wuhan University study, this is the average
time the patient enters the hospital.
• Day 8 in patients experiencing severe conditions, about 15 percent experienced
acute respiratory distress syndrome. When this happens, the liquid has filled the
lungs, and is often fatal.
• 10th day when symptoms deteriorate, patients will be taken to the ICU. Usually,
they experience disturbances in the abdomen, and loss of appetite. In this span of
time, a small part dies, which is 2 percent.
• 17th day after treatment for approximately 2.5 weeks, patients whose condition is
improved are usually cured and out of the hospital.
The University of Texas epidemiologist Lauren Ancel Meyers said, there are
infected patients without showing symptoms for five or more days. Therefore, early
symptoms in some people do not come right after they are infected. However, when
symptoms arise, it will look similar to pneumonia. How to distinguish Covid-19 with
pneumonia? The radiologist Thomas Jefferson University, Paras Lakhani, said the
two can be distinguished from how it deteriorates over time. Pneumonia usually does
not develop rapidly. Patients suffering from pneumonia will be treated with
antibiotics and the patient will be stable until they start to improve. However, the
patient's positive virus corona condition can deteriorate, even after they receive
treatment.
A Koronavirus pandemic in Indonesia began with the first case findings on
March 2, 2020. Two Indonesian women, each aged 64 and 31, contracted the disease
of the 2019 Koronavirus (COVID-19) from contact with a Japanese citizen while
attending a dance club event. The Japanese were detected as a COVID-19 cause in
Malaysia, after leaving Indonesia. Both patients were hospitalized at the hospital of
Infectious diseases Prof. Dr. Sulianti Saroso, North Jakarta.
Until the 28th of March 2020, confirmed 1046 cases of positive COVID-19
of which 87 patients died, 46 patients were declared cured after two examinations
and there were 913 people in treatment.. Cases are spread in 28 provinces: DKI
Jakarta, West Java, Banten, East Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi, IN Yogyakarta,
East Kalimantan, Bali, North Sumatera, Papua, central Kalimantan, West Sumatera,
Riau Islands, Aceh, Lampung, Kalimantan Southeast Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara,
North Sulawesi, West Papua, Riau, Jambi, South Sumatera, South Kalimantan,
central Sulawesi, Maluku, and North Maluku.
To date, there have been no medications that can cure Corona virus
infections. Therefore, the World Health Organization (WHO) urges people to not
take a trivial look at the disease and to carry out preventive measures. Some steps
that can be done to prevent the Corona virus infection are:
1. Wash your hands properly
2. Using a mask
3. Maintain endurance
4. Do not go to the infected state
5. Avoid contact with animals that potentially transmit coronavirus
