Prime Factorization
Prime Numbers are numbers whose factors are always one and itself. Thus, prime
factorization is a way of getting the multipliers of a certain number but only prime
numbers are the ones being used as factors.
Example: 20 = 2x2x5 140 = 2x2x5x7
How can we get the prime factors of a number? Here are the common ways:
Factor Tree
20
2 10 (Stop when you reached a prime number
Example: 2, 5, 7,11, 13 …)
2 5
Decomposition Method / Continuous Division
2 140 Just divide the number in any prime number
2 70 until you reached a quotient of 1.
5 35
7 7
1
Find the prime factors of the following numbers. Put it on top of the blank.

4) 320 = ________________________________
5) 498 = ________________________________
6) 1250 = ________________________________
7) 620 = ________________________________
8) 891 = ________________________________
9) 2500 = ________________________________
10) 2301 = ________________________________
