Pro Animal Testing on Animals
OPENING STATEMENTS:
Animal experimentation is one of the methods of testing using animals. It can be used
for various reasons to insure whether medicines or cosmetics are safe for human beings
or not. To investigate about diseases and to discover new facts about diseases and
medicines. It had contributed to today’s progressing medical treatments. It has been
practice for hundreds of years. Animal experiments may help us to find more cures in
the future. Scientist allows to test and create new drugs especially in cosmetics. Animal
such as monkeys or rabbits have similar physical processes to humans. So if the drug
produces adverse effects in animals, it is probably unfit for human use. Animal testing is
cheap. There is a large of supply of animal for medical research. Animal are easily breed
and maintain safety in controlled labs. The costs of testing on humans would be
extremely high.
We simply do not have alternative methods of testing. Computer models are not
advance enough and testing on plants is much less applicable to humans than tests on
animals such as rabbits, until we have a better system. We must use animal testing.
ARGUMENTS:
It can help the researchers to find drugs and treatments.
Many medical treatments have been made including HIV drugs, insulin,
antibiotics, vaccine, and many more.
Improves human health
Helps ensure the safety of drugs.

Animals and humans are very similar.
We have the same organ system and performing the same task in more or less
the same way.
Humans and animals share hundreds of illnesses.
Studying disease mechanisms in animal models leads directly to the
development of new technologies and medicines that benefit both humans and
animals.

Animal experiments are necessary.
Through testing on animals we are able to ensure any risks of a drug are
identified and minimized before it is tested on humans during clinical trials. This
helps to reduce side effects and human fatalities.
All drugs have to be tested on animals for safety before they can be used in
humans.
The use of animals in the lab has dramatically improved scientists’ understanding
of human biology and health.

Improves the Safety Welfare of People.
It prevents different illnesses such as diabetes, polio, Parkinson’s disease,
muscular dystrophy and high blood pressure.
An example is Asthma Inhalers—before it was released on the market it was
tried and proven first on guinea pigs and frogs.
It was stated on Foundation for Biomedical Research, that human life span
during 1900 has increased by 30 years. In 2015, it was said that there is 5.87
deaths every 1000 live birth while in 1935, there is 55 deaths every 1000 live
birth.

Animal research is highly regulated, with laws in place to protect animals from
mistreatment.
All proposals to use animals for research must be approved by an Institutional
Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) set up by each research facility.
Animals do not have rights, therefore it is acceptable to experiment them.
Animals do not have cognitive ability or moral judgement that humans do and
because of this they have been treated differently than humans by nearly every
culture throughout recorded history. If we granted animal rights, all humans
would have to become vegetarians, and hunting would need to be outlawed.
Animal researchers treat animals humanely, both for the animals’ sake and to
ensure reliable test results. Research animals are cared by veterinarians,
husbandry specialist, and animal health technicians to ensure their well-being
and more accurate findings. Rachel Rubino and director of the animal facility
said, “Most people who work with research animals love those animals… We
want to give them the best lives possible, treat them humanely”
