Limited, is the world's seventh largest steel company, with an annual crude steel capacity of 31
million tonnes. It is the largest private sector steel company in India in terms of domestic
production. Ranked 258th on Fortune Global 500, it is based in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. It
is part of Tata Group of companies. Tata Steel is also India's second-largest and second-most
profitable company in private sector with consolidated revenues of 132,110 crore (US$ 29.99
billion) and net profit of over 12,350 crore (US$ 2.8 billion) during the year ended March 31,
2008. Tata steel in the 8th most valuable brand according to an annual survey conducted by
Brand Finance and The Economic Times in 2010.
Its main plant is located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, with its recent acquisitions, the company has
become a multinational with operations in various countries. The Jamshedpur plant contains the
DCS supplied by Honeywell.The registered office of Tata Steel is in Mumbai. The company was
also recognized as the world's best steel producer by World Steel Dynamics in 2005. The
company is listed on Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange of India, and
employs about 82,700 people (as of 2007).
Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant
Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISL) , A unit of Steel Authority of India Limited, is a company
involved in the production of alloy steels and pig iron and located in the city of Bhadravathi, India. It
was started as the Mysore Iron Works on January 18, 1923 by Sir M VisvesvarayaIt is now a steel plant
under the jurisdiction of the Steel Authority of India Limited.
Bhilai
Bhilai or Bhilai Nagar is a city in Chhattisgarh, India with a population of more than 6,00000. The city is
located 25 km west of the capital Raipur on the main Howrah–Mumbai rail line, and National Highway 6.
Bhilai is famous for Bhilai Steel Plant which is the largest of its kind in India. Along with its sister city
Durg, Bhilai was listed as the 7th fastest growing large city in the world.

BHILAI STEEL PLANT
Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) is India¶s sole producer of rails and heavy steel plates and
major producer of structural. The plant is the sole supplier of the country's longest
rail tracks of 260 meters. With an annual production capacity of 3.153 MT of
saleable steel, the plant also specializes in other products such as wire rods and
merchant products. Since BSP is accredited with ISO 9001:2000 Quality
Management System Standard, all saleable products of Bhilai Steel Plant come
under the ISO umbrella.
At Bhilai IS0:14001 has been awarded for Environment Management System in
the Plant, Township and Dalli Mines and it is the only steel plant to get
certification in all these areas. The Plant is accredited with SA: 8000 certification
for social accountability and the OHSAS-18001 certification for Occupational
health and safety. These internationally recognized certifications add value to
Bhilai¶s products and helps create a place among the best organizations in the steel
industry.
