Isaiah- from the Hebrew word Yesha`yahu(meaning “God is Salvation” or The Lord Saves)
--Jewish (born in Judah)

-Prophet after whom the book of Isaiah is named

-He prophesized the coming of Jesus

 Amoz- father of Isaiah

HOW IS ISAIAH CALLED TO BE A PROPHET ?


 It was recorded in the Book of Isaiah Chapter 6.
 He went to the Temple of the Lord and prayed, and then there came a vision where he saw the
Lord high and lifted up. He eventually recognized the holiness of God and his sins, and then one
of the seraphs (shown in Figure 1) flew down to him with a burning coal taken from the altar
and laid it upon his mouth which signifies that all his sins were forgiven. He then heard the voice
of the Lord and volunteered for service by saying: Here am I; send me.

caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him” (Is 53:6).

This echoes the meaning of Isaiah’s name, which means the “salvation of Yahweh.”
