Education Association For Young Adults

Organization Description

For the past decade educational for young adults has dedicated its time to the city of Bell.

It has taught many programs that has helped not only the people but the community. EAYA was

founded in 2010 by Elder Medrano, Daniel Guttierez, Nicholas Frometa , and Patrick Alonzo. It

was founded here in the city of Bell. It was simply started with them being given an assignment

that would help the community, their they saw that the community had many problems and

needed a change. That is when they were fully committed and since then they have been fully

dedicated to the city of Bell. Since 2010 EAYA has gathered roughly around 250 members from

the community. The vision is that roughly by 2025 we will have double the amount of members

from other communities surrounding ours. Our mission is to help expand the knowledge of those

who weren't given education, because they weren't able to afford it or simply wasn't given the

choice to go to school because of personal problems. The organization values for EAYA is

forgiveness, and respect we forgive those coming into are program who maybe wanna change for

the best. Some goals and objectives I hope we will be able to achieve with this program is

helping the community and the people in it as well. We will do this by not only expanding their

knowledge with overwhelming them with work, but they will also get to experience because we

will go on field trips to museums, this will show them the different traditions that were practiced.

We also plan to go the food spots that specialize in certain type culture food. This will hopefully
get them out of their comfort zones so they can go ahead and try new things. It will also show

them how beautiful other peoples traditions are and why we should respect it.

Program Project Description

This program will be open to the public to both teenagers and adults. our program will be

located in Bell, while started these programs will be open on monday wednesday fridays from

3pm through 6pm. The things that our programs offer is cultural awareness classes, world history

and adult education classes. The purpose of these programs is to educate those who are unaware

of those cultures of other races to help get familiar with these other cultures. For example the

history class helps inform the teens and adults about these cultures. US education is good but

only gives part of history. We want to help change racism. There will also be adult education

classes to help adults who struggle with english, writing ,and speaking the language of english.

Our program participates in activities such as going to various museums to focus on one culture

at a time. Apart from that we also celebrate other cultural holidays and traditions of other

cultures. Our program sets the example for the youth, this program will also benefit the adults

when it comes to expanding their knowledge. While also having both teenagers and adults accept

different cultures and races. The activities will give people the understanding of other cultures.

The activities our program partakes in is to make the educational part easier fun so it won't be

boring for the students. The students will also be taken to field trips to museums to see first hand

and read about the different cultures how they started and the different traditions that are

practiced in them. The teachers of the program will be very experienced and very active in their

job.
Current Situation

Over the years, the communities Surrounding us have been having racism issues, and

encountering that is there has been a lack of diversity. January 14,2020 a delta airline plane

dumped fuel over multiple schools in cudahy, only 5 mins away from bell. Delta is an airline that

supports Donald Trump's campaign to deport immigrants. Local residents claims that the airline

dumped jet fuel on purpose, because CUDAHY is an over populated community of Latinos.

Overall our current 45th US president Donald Trump, racism has been a bigger problem. His

political campaign capital MAGA stands for “Make America Great Again” has been the most

racist campaign in US history. President Trump‘s campaign is also to support the White

supremacist, and lack of diversity by shunning immigrants. Over the past three years our current

president Donald Trump has deported more than 267,000 immigrants. Donald Trump's campaign

also supports the Ku Klux Klan. The KKK is known to be one of the most violent racist groups.

This program will help young adults learn about other cultures and countries. In our local schools

students are only leaning towards The basic history and we are ready to talk about the other

cultures and traditions, we hope that our program will help expand the knowledge and help them

see the World different. This would hopefully help them and Touareg how their comfort zone

and what there used to and inspired them to explore and try new things. We will teach the young

adults the different kinds of cultures. We were also teach them other different beliefs, foods, etc.

Project plan

The initial step for the project is is asking permission to host our program, then we will ask for

our grant to get started to buy materials and resources. We will also use our grant to start

advertising our program by making flyers, and handing them out to students and adults around
our community. We will also commercialize it on t.v, mostly targeting the adults, and post on

social media, to target teenagers. After advertising for roughly 3 months we will begin to buy

necessities for our program like basic utensils. The utensils will be needed for projects, writing

things down like important information. The chromebooks will be used for online courses to help

spread the knowledge and give them information about other cultures and traditions. We will

also start planning our lesson plans, and our field trips like the museums we plan to attend. After

that we will start with teacher interviews as well as a teacher assistant. In a teacher we need to

see for them to trilingual because a diverse group will be attending, and we want them to feel

comfortable.they should also have experience in world history and foreign language. The

teacher assistant will be used to help out students whenever the teacher is busy. Our program will

be 6 months, 3 days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for roughly 3 hours a day. With

this program we hope to improve people's knowledge about different cultural traditions as well

as expanding their knowledge.we also hope that after this program the people who attend have a

different perspective about how they view other and event racism. Our grand opening should be

in late january 2021.

Benefits of the project/ trade offs

Through the implementation of our program (EAYA), it will come with many benefits, Not only

for the people attending but for our community as well as seen in our community of Bell, CA there is a

lack of diversity, which causes a lack of cultural awareness. Our program will be beneficial because it

will spread knowledge about the different ethnicities, cultures, religions, and traditions. This will help

some acknowledge others and not be racist. Our program will teach more than basic history. Our program

will hopefully encourage others to not be judgemental against others, and motivate them to explore places

that will also give them better understanding and cultures, like museums. We were also how to get them

out there’s constant zone like try food outside them regular routine, for example distance from other

cultures. Those are just minor benefits of our program hopes to bring. Some major benefit our program

will bring changes that will benefit our community. Some major benefits our program will bring changes

that will benefit our community. One of our goals is for our program to expand our message, we want our

program to very respected in our community to any foreigners they will be all welcomed. Something that

will be seen in our program is that Latinos, Arabs , African Americans, and white are all similar and there

is no reason why there should be hatred between them. Unfortunately with our program focusing heavily

on culture awareness we will not be able to focus on other problems in our community such as drug abuse

. Even though our program benefits not only our community but communities surrounding us, drug abuse
isn't something that shouldn't be unconsidered because it could be harmful to our community.

Conclusion

It is imperative and urgent to address Bells racism issue in a timely manner and education

association for young adults is in position to teach our new generations of young adults about

other countries/ cultures. In just the district of LAUSD there isn't any classes, or after school

events that go out there ways to teach their students about other countries/ cultures to prevent

racism in our community. Therefore our program EAYA will teach them about other cultures.

We will take the teens into field trips to other cities where they have different cultures, we will

also take them to culture museums to make learning more fun the teens to learn and want to keep

learning about the thousands of other cultures in the world. Our program would be the best

option to choose because we help to interact with people with different cultures and learn about

them while also learning about their different traditions. This program brings you out of your

comfort zone to get to interact with the real world, to show teens that latin culture isn't the only

other culture in existence. The other type of civilization the program offers is to help expand the

knowledge of teens and young adults, and helps prevent ignorance, and racism. This plan of

action will not only be a learning experience to experience it, will also be a fun experience to

experiment you can make new friendships and find things about other cultures. This experience

benefits you because interacting with others is a skill that lots of jobs are looking for. Our

program is trying to advocate for a world with no discrimination in it against any cultrue or any

rasie. The staff that we will higher will teach the young adults about the effects racism has
happened to others in the past. In the end the goal of our program is to create a world free of

racism and descrimination for future generations.
