Spreadsheet will become your best friend and math is everything becauseaccounting is all about
numbers. Being an accounting student we must be willing to learn new topics, work with software, use
basic math every day, be a problem solver, and communicate well with people. Also being an accounting
student you will never thought you would say this, math is really everything. It’s all about numbers.
When you study accounting your life becomes nothing but numbers. Numbers tell the story behind a
business, a spreadsheet, tax returns, and audits are so important in accounting programs and
coursework.
A spreadsheet is your best friend sometimes your enemy. The kind of math you use in accounting classes is
thankfully much simpler. You use a lot of basic math, fractions, ratios, averages, some statistics, and a little bit
of algebra. Even you hate math subject but you have come to love it because in accounting you get to work
on, it’s a number game. Accounting is the measurement, processing, and communication of financial and non
financial information about economic entities such as businesses and corporations. Mathematics is all around
us, in everything we do.
Therefore in accounting there is largely math involved. Math is a huge part of it and a crucial skill
needed to be able to work in accounting, but you have to be able to use other skills too. Accountants are
problem solvers and have to be able to think critically. Underneath it all is math, but on the other hand
you will be working with spreadsheets, all the time. This type of software will become your new best
friend, but at times it will also be your enemy. All students of accounting programs understand the joy
that comes with creating a perfect spreadsheet, one that actually works, with no errors, with totals that
actually make sense. All accountants know the pain and joy of working with spreadsheets and I'll get
used to it too. Creating such a perfect spreadsheet will make your day.
Accounting is the measurement, processing, and communication of financial and non financial
information about economic entities such as businesses and corporations. Mathematics is all around us,
in everything we do.
Mathematics is a practice of numbers where we can calculate answer with help of different formulas of
different topics but in Accountancy it is a practice of keeping the book of account in a right way with
right journals of every transaction. But it doesn't mean they are different both mathematics and
accounting uses numbers and simple mathematics like addition, subtraction multiplication and division.
In conclusion, Mathematics is a practice of numbers where one can calculate answer with help of
different formulas of different topics whereas Accountancy is a practice of keeping the book of account
in a right way with right journals of every transaction
As we’ve been studying Mathematics in the Modern World during our second semester for this school
year there’s one quotation that marks in my mind since the day I’ve read and heard it. And that is the
quotation of Pierre Curie in symmetry principle that we’ve tackled in our lesson Nature’s Number,
“effects are as symmetric as their causes”. Which means that any symmetry of cause must appear in its
effect, while the effect may possess symmetry that is not symmetry of the cause. But if I’ll be asked on
how I’ll define the quotation I’ll explain by how I understand the explanation of our Professor in this
matter. For me its also more like of the saying that every action has a reaction. That things would stay
perfect if no one cause it to be imperfect. Like in our world wherein God created everything perfectly
but we humans tend to destroy everything. In God’s eye we’re all perfect but in humans mind we’re not.
Because we’re sometimes driven by our insecurities that made us think that we’re too different and too
low from others. Just like what I’ve felt before wherein I always lack confidence in everything because
I’m so insecure to other people who’s too good in Mathematics subject. And it comes to the point
wherein I downgraded myself for always getting a bad score while everyone around me received a good
score. I always compare myself to others and didn’t appreciate myself. And I didn’t realize that what I’m
doing was the reason why I’m being left behind. Because I chose to be eaten by my insecurities, that
instead of just doing my best and motivating myself to be good in Math I always feel disappointed and
down in everything. Then I realized that maybe if I only focus and didn’t compare myself to others
maybe I’m that kind of person who’s also good in Mathematics. If I only knew that what I’ve been doing
will affect my performance maybe the result would be different. That if I didn’t contradict what God’s
wants us to believe that we’re all equal and perfect, it won’t happen. And that’s why of all the quotation
we’ve encounter in our lessons I chose “ effects are as symmetric as their causes” because I can relate it
from my experience while taking Mathematics in the Modern World subject.
At first we questioned why we still need to take Mathematics in the Modern World subject even if we’ve
taken some lessons from it before. But as we go through I trully understand why do we still need to have
this kind of subject. Because it’s one of the subject that will be most applied in our course. That without
some knowledge about it , things wouldn’t be that easy for us. And that there are also new knowledge
that we can still get from it and it’s not the same level of Mathematics that we’ve taken during our
Junior and Senior High years. It’s a little bit more complicated and confusing, but with the perfect
Professor and classmates we’ve made it. We learned and had fun as well because of all that we’ve done
in this subject. We even gain a lot of confidence because of all the reporting and activities we had ,
which I believe our Professor want us to really have. She made us realized that it’s all about reality now
that we’re all grown up and we need to be responsible of everything. That’s its not an “easy peasy” thing
anymore but one thing for sure is that it’s worthy. And we didn’t just talk about numbers but we also
practiced our creativity when we made our outputs about the History of Mathematics and Nature’s
Number. We also had and activity entitled “Who Owns the Fish” that made us have a little bit of
headache because it’s somehow complicated. Good thing I’m in a great group so we got the answers but
we don’t know if it’s right, well atleast we finished it. All things we’ve dons in this subject was not easy
at all but it taught us a lot. It’s fun and exciting, I swear and I mean it. We all experience to felt nervous
everytime there’s a reporting, quiz or exam but after all we can still made ourselves laugh and smile
about the result whether it’s good or bad. Because we know that no matter what the result is we did our
best and there’s still a “next time” to get the best result that we can have. It’s been an amazing journey,
its all worth it after all and I’m sure that this subject would be one of the ways for us to become the
successful person we dream of.
