1.- Candidates often make mistakes with first and second conditionals.

Find and correct one


mistake in each of these sentences. There may be more than one way to correct some
sentences.

1- If I say that technology has not changed the way we study, I would be lying

2- If I live near my school, I would go there by bicycle or even on foot

3- If we study together, I think we would be able to test each other at the same time

4- If we’ll have any free time during the term, we can organize a school excursion

5- If you’ll have any problems on your course, please contact your tutor, who will sort them
out

6- If there will be something that interests you, do write back, and I’ll do my best to tell you

7- If I buy a computer, I would have to spend all day in front of it

8- If we take a good rest, we would be full of energy and we could do everything better

9- If you’ll decide to stay until Christmas, you’ll find Athens very exciting

10- I’d like to say that if more people travelled by bicycle, the atmosphere will be better

2.- Correct the mistakes with the verb forms

· If I met Usain Bolt, I take a photograph of him.

· We can get tickets for the match if we would book them today.

· If you will practise harder, you could be a good player.

· If you helped me more, I didn't have so many problems.

· He can become world champion if he'd had a different coach.

· He might have decided to join another team if the club wouldn't have offered him so much
money.

· She didn't become a world champion if she hadn't taken her trainer's advice.

· They would have travelled to South Africa to see the final if they could afford it.

3.- Choose the correct word or phrase

· Unless / as long as you make an effort, it’s too easy to lose touch with old friends

· I text my boyfriend every day. Otherwise / provided that he gets upset

· I want to invite all my friends to the party, even if / whether they can’t all come
· Provided that / unless I know some people who are going, I don’t mind going to parties on my
own
