Visceral Fat Area - As you may know, there are two main types of body fat: subcutaneous and
visceral. The Visceral Fat Area* graph allows you to determine how much harmful visceral fat your
client has.
Intracellular Water - Intracellular water is the water located inside your cells. Having slightly more
ICW than normal isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it can signal positive changes in your body
composition. Increased muscle mass is due to the enlargement of the number and size of muscle
cells. When the muscle cells become enlarged, they are able to take in (and require) more ICW in
order to power their cellular functions.
Extracellular Water - Extracellular water is the water located outside your cells. Extracellular water
is important because it helps control the movement of electrolytes, allows oxygen delivery to the
cells, and clears waste from metabolic processes. Excess ECW can indicate health risks, including:
1) Inflammation, 2) Renal Disease (Kidney Failure), 3) Unhealthy Fat Mass.
ECW Ratio - Maintaining a balanced ratio of approximately 3:2 is ideal for optimal health. If you
find that this ratio is beginning to fall out of balance, there are some things you can do. Fortunately,
these tips aren’t anything you already haven’t heard before: maintaining a healthy diet, staying
hydrated by drinking enough water, and exercising regularly.
ECW History - Track the history of the body compositional change, especially ECW and Total
Body Water Ratio. Take the InBody Test periodically to monitor your progress. It allows an
individual to track the changes in body composition over their cumulative graph that shows the
progress from the first test results to the most recent results.
Segmental Circumference - Segmental Circumference is the estimated outer circumference of
each body part based on the body composition. Such as arm, hip, thigh, chest, abdomen, etc.
Body Type - The body type based on BMI and Percent Body Fat, whether your body is muscular,
athletic, obese, thin or sarcopenic
