INTRODUCTION
I have made this website on the
topic “Assassin’s Creed” for
viewers as well as Assassin creed
gamers to give some information
about its story how it originated
and its game series. This website
also provides information for the
modern-day Assassins and the
Templers who are fighting each
other for the pieces of Eden. The
introduction of this website starts
with the company named
“Ubisoft” who created these
wonderful games and leading to
the game characters involved in
each series. I hope you will find
useful information about
Assassin’s Creed franchise.

<h2>Conception</h2>

After completing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time near the end of 2003, Patrice Désilets was
instructed to begin work on the next Prince of Persia game, with plans for it to release on the seventh-
generation consoles. However, at that time, neither Microsoft nor Sony had revealed what their next
consoles would be. The initial development of the game from January 2004 was aimed as a PlayStation 2
title, following the same linear approach that The Sands of Time had taken. However, as more
information came in about the capabilities of the next-generation consoles by September 2004, Désilets'
team considered expanding the Prince of Persia acrobatic gameplay into an open world which would be
feasible on the newer systems.
</p>
<p>
Désilets wanted to move away from the lead character being a prince simply waiting for his reign to
start, but a character that wanted to strive to be a king. He came upon one of his university books related
to secret societies, and its first material related to the Assassins, and recognized that he could have the
lead character in the game being the second-highest Assassin, seeking to be the leader of the group. As
such, the game began work under the title Prince of Persia: Assassin, inspired by the life of Hassan-i
Sabbah and making heavy use of Bartol's novel Alamut. The assassin character was fleshed out over the
course of the game's three-year development in an iterative fashion. The team had some idea of how the
character dressed from Alamut and other historical works, in all white-robes and red belt, but had to
envision how to detail this in the game. One of the first concept sketches, drawn by animator Khai
Nguyen suggested the concept of a bird of prey, which resonated with the team. The assassin was named
Altair, meaning "bird of prey" in Arabic, and eagle imagery was used heavily in connection to the
Assassins. The team did take some creative routes to meet narrative goals and avoid technical limitations
of the consoles. Altair was to be a heroic character with a bit of a "badass" edge, and the artist borrowed
elements of the G.I. Joe character Storm Shadow, a similarly-skilled hero. Rendering long flowing robes
was impossible to do on the newer hardware, so they shorted the robe and gave it a more feathered
look, resonating the "bird of prey" imagery. Similar routes were taken with other parts of the gameplay
as to take liberties with accuracy as to make the game fun to play. The team wanted Altair's parkour
moves to look believable, but sacrificed realism for gameplay value, allowing the player to make
maneuvers otherwise seemingly impossible in real-life. Having "leaps of faith"s from high vantage points
into hay piles and using hay piles to hide from guards was a similar concept which borrowed from
Hollywood films, but Désilets observed that Alamut described similar actions that the Assassins had
undertaken.
</p>
<p>
To drive the story, the team had to come up with some goal that both the Assassins and Templars
were searching for. Philippe Morin had suggested using the apple of Eden, which the team initially
thought to be a humorous aspect for everyone fighting over an apple. However, as they researched into
the game more, the team found that many medieval paintings of royalty and other leaders holding
spherical objects similar to globus cruciger that represented power and control, and recognized that an
artifact named the Apple of Eden would fit well into this concept.
</p>
<p>
Among this work was the idea of the Animus, which came about after the team's decision to focus on
the Assassins. The team considered that the player would travel through several different cities, and
potentially recount numerous assassinations over the past thousand years, including some fantastical
ones such as John F. Kennedy which would require some element of time traveling. Désilets had seen a
program on DNA and human history and was inspired by the idea if DNA could store human memories,
then they could have an in-game machine that could be used for time and location jumps as well as
explaining other aspects of the game's user interface to the player. Désilets considered this similar to
what they had established in The Sands of Time. There, the game effectively is a story told by the Prince,
and while in the game, should the player-character die, this is treated as a mistelling of the Prince's story,
allowing the player to back up and retry a segment of the game. Ubisoft's marketing was not keen on the
Animus idea, believing players would be confused and be disappointed that the game was not a true
7
medieval experience. The game's first trailer show at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2006 focused
heavily on the medieval elements due to this. Later marketing materials closer to the game's release
hinted more directly at the science fiction elements of the game.
</p>

<h2 style="text-transform:uppercase;">The Story behind....</h2>
<i>
<p class="story">
The primary conflict in Assassin's Creed is between two warring medieval orders-- the Assassins and
the Knights Templar. The Assassins and Knights Templar have survived to the present day (2012 in the
first game). The Knights Templar's present-day doppelganger is a shell corporation called Abstergo.
Abstergo has created a device called an Animus, through which certain individuals can link up with their
genetic ancestors at various moments in history, achieving a sort of technologically enabled psychic time-
travel. Abstergo and the Knights Templar are effectively the same fascistic entity with one goal: to collect
the Pieces of Eden and use them to rule the world. These powerful artifacts were created by an ancient
race known cryptically as "The Ones Who Came Before." They were once humanity's overlords. The
Templars want to use the Pieces of Eden either to bring The Ones Who Came Before into power again or
to become humanity's overlords themselves. Conversely, as proponents of free will, the Assassins seek to
stop the Templars at all costs.<br>
</p>
<p class="story">
The Templars are an order of powerful and usually rich people trying to control others to do what
they believe they should do. The Assassins are a mixed bag, usually made up of mostly under privileged
and societies outcasts trying to allow those who would live in subjugation, to be free.

<h1>Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad</h1>
<p>
Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad (Arabic: الطائر ابن ال أحد, 1165 – 1257) was a member of the Levantine
Brotherhood
of Assassins who served as their Mentor from 1191 until his death in 1257. During his tenure
as Mentor, through the knowledge of an Apple of Eden, Altaïr made several discoveries and
inventions
that greatly helped the Order's progression. His leadership saw to the spread of the Assassins'
influence throughout the Old World.
</p>
18
<P>
Raised to be an Assassin from birth, Altaïr became a Master Assassin at age 24, an accomplishment
unheard of for one so young. He failed to recover an Apple of Eden from Robert de Sablé in July
1191 and subsequently allowed the Templars to attack the town of Masyaf, headquarters of the
Assassins.
For this, he was demoted to the rank of novice and sent on a quest for redemption.
</p>
<p>
Tasked with the deaths of nine individuals who, unbeknownst to him, made up the ranks of the
Templar
Order in the Holy Land, Altaïr began a quest to change his ways and liberate the Kingdom from their
corruption. During his quest however, Altaïr learned of a plot far more sinister than he originally
believed. In completing his mission, he also cleansed the Order of its treacherous leader Al Mualim.
Altaïr thereafter became Mentor, taking the Assassins in a new, more secretive direction.
</p>
<p>
With the Apple in hand, Altaïr changed the way members of his Order lived their lives, writing the
details in his fabled Codex for later generations of the Order to read. Altaïr's vision of the
Assassin Order was for them to be spread across the world, living among the people, and he began
establishing many Assassins Guilds during his tenure as Mentor. Throughout his travels, Altaïr
strengthened his Order, stopping various Templar plots over the years as well as halting the
inexorable march of Genghis Khan. Altaïr is an ancestor to Desmond Miles, through the maternal line.

<h1>About Ezio Auditore da Firenze</h1>
<p>
Ezio Auditore da Firenze (1459 – 1524) was a Florentine nobleman during the Renaissance, and,
unbeknownst to most historians and philosophers, a Master Assassin and the Mentor of the Italian
Brotherhood of Assassins, a title which he held from 1503 to 1513. He is also an ancestor of
William and Desmond Miles, as well as Clay Kaczmarek.
</p>
<p>
A member of the House of Auditore, Ezio remained unaware of his Assassin heritage until the
age of 17, when he witnessed the hanging of his father and two brothers, Federico and Petruccio>
Forced to flee his birthplace with his remaining family members—his mother and sister—Ezio
took refuge with his uncle in the Tuscan town of Monteriggioni, at the Villa Auditore.
</p>
<p>
After learning of his heritage from Mario, Ezio began his Assassin training and set about on
his quest for vengeance against the Templar Order, and their Grand Master, the Spaniard Rodrigo
Borgia, who had ordered the execution of his kin.
</p>
<p>
During his travels, Ezio managed to not only unite the pages of the Codex, written by Altaïr
19
Ibn-La'Ahad, Mentor of the Levantine Brotherhood of Assassins, but also to save the cities of
Florence, Venice, and Rome from Templar rule.
</p>
<p>
He ensured the future travels of Christopher Columbus to the New World, liberated Rome from
Borgia rule, and prevented the rise to power of Ercole Massimo's Cult of Hermes, helping
spread the Renaissance and Assassin ideals of independence and free will throughout Italy.
</p>
<p>
In the years that followed, Ezio began a quest to rediscover the lost history of the Order.
Travelling to the aged fortress of Masyaf in order to learn more of the Assassins before him,
he discovered it overrun with Templars and made his way to the city of Constantinople to
uncover the location of the Masyaf keys which, as he discovered, would unlock the fortress's
fabled hidden library when brought together.
</p>
<p>
A decade later, Ezio had retired and resided in a Tuscan villa with his wife, Sofia Sartor,
and his two children; Flavia and Marcello. Sometime after helping teach the Chinese Assassin
Shao Jun the ways of the Order, Ezio died of a heart attack at the age of 65, during a visit
to Florence with his wife and daughter.

<h1>Connor Kenway</h1>
<p>
Ratonhnhaké:ton (born 1756), also known by the adopted name of Connor, was a Kanien'kehá:ka-
born Master
Assassin of the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassins during the period of the American Revolutionary
War.
He is an ancestor of Desmond Miles, through the paternal line.
</p>
<p>
Born to the British Templar Haytham Kenway and Kaniehtí:io, a Kanien'kehá:ka woman from the
village of
Kanatahséton, Ratonhnhaké:ton was raised in Kanatahséton. In 1760, while he was still a young child,
he
was assaulted by Charles Lee and other Colonial Templars seeking the First Civilization temple which
the
Kanien'kehá:ka were protecting, and lost his mother shortly thereafter during the burning of his
village
by George Washington's forces. Ratonhnhaké:ton, however, mistakenly believed the Templars to be
responsible
for the attack.
</p>
<p>
Concerned by the outside world's impact on his people, Ratonhnhaké:ton eventually joined the
Assassin
Brotherhood under the advice of Oiá:ner, in order to protect his village and prevent the Templars
from
20
returning. Finding the Templars had wiped out the Colonial Assassins years prior, Ratonhnhaké:ton
convinced
the Assassin Mentor Achilles Davenport to train him and adopted the more Western-sounding
pseudonym of 'Connor'.
</p>
<p>
During his hunt for the Templars, Ratonhnhaké:ton aided the Patriot movement and protected
George Washington,
unwittingly becoming an important figure of the American Revolution. However, he was conflicted by
wanting
to reconcile with his father, despite Achilles' warnings as to the futility of uniting the Assassin and
Templar philosophies, and his dogged pursuit of Charles Lee, whom Haytham staunchly supported.

<h1>Edward James Kenway</h1>
<p>
Edward James Kenway (1693 – 1735) was a Welsh-born British privateer-turned-pirate and a member
of
the West Indies and British Brotherhoods of Assassins.
</p>
<p>
Born to humble farmers, Edward always sought to acquire riches and fame. He became a privateer
for
the Royal Navy early in his life and, once accepted, found himself stationed in the West Indies.
However, an abrupt end to the War of the Spanish Succession and the promise of gold, glory and
fame
eventually seduced him into a life of piracy. It was during this quest that Edward first encountered
the Assassin and Templar orders, and became embroiled in their struggle.
</p>
<p>
Over the next few years, Edward struggled with the internal conflict that arose from his desire for
fame and riches—through finding the Observatory—and his duty to his friends. After losing nearly all
of his closest friends, he realized the folly of his quest for glory. He then joined the Assassin Order,
hunted down the Templars in the region and entrusted the Observatory to the Assassins.
</p>
<p>
After a decade in the West Indies, Edward returned to Britain and received a pardon from Robert
Walpole.
He soon acquired an estate in London and married Tessa Stephenson-Oakley, with whom he fathered
a son
21
named Haytham. He quickly joined the British Brotherhood of Assassins, rising up to the rank of
Master
Assassin, and eventually, leader. Continuing his work as an Assassin, Edward researched the First
Civilization, and kept the research in a journal. In 1735, he was killed by mercenaries in the employ
of the Templar Grand Master Reginald Birch, in order to acquire the journal. Haytham would later
father
Ratonhnhaké:ton; through this line, Edward is an ancestor of William Miles, and his son, Desmond.

<h1>Arno Dorian</h1>
<p>
Arno Victor Dorian (born 1768) was a member of the French Brotherhood of Assassins and a Master
Assassin
during the French Revolution. The only known son of Charles Dorian, an Assassin who was murdered
by the
Irish-American Templar Shay Cormac, Arno was then made a ward of François de la Serre, Grand
Master of
the French Rite of the Templar Order, and raised alongside his closest friend, Élise.
</p>
<p>
In May of 1789, Francois de la Serre was murdered at the Palace of Versailles as part of a coup within
the French Templar Rite, and Arno was framed for the murder. While imprisoned at the Bastille, he
met
Master Assassin Pierre Bellec, who told Arno of his Assassin heritage. Wracked with guilt over his past
failures, Arno joined the Assassin Brotherhood in the hopes of avenging his father and adoptive
father,
while also working to uncover the true instigators of the revolution.
</p>
<p>
Throughout his journey, Arno gained various allies, including Antoine Lavoisier, Marquis de Sade,
Georges
Danton, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Élise, who had recently been inducted to the Templar Order and
sought
revenge against her father's murderers. Arno and Élise soon discovered that François-Thomas
Germain had
orchestrated de la Serre's death in the hopes of reforming the Templar Order, and instigated the
Revolution
to this end. When the Assassin Mentor Honoré Mirabeau accepted an alliance with her on behalf of
the
Brotherhood, Bellec poisoned Mirabeau and tried to kill Élise as well, forcing Arno to assassinate his
former teacher.
</p>
22
<p>
After killing most of Germain's subordinates, Arno was exiled from the Assassin Brotherhood and
shunned
by Élise, causing him to retreat back to the now abandoned and delapidated de la Serre estate in
Versailles.
Six months later, Élise found Arno in a drunken, depressed state at the Palace and apologized to him
before
they both returned to Paris. After eliminating the remainder of Germain's allies, they tracked him
down
at the Temple in July of 1794, where a final confrontation ensued. Germain killed Élise using the
Sword of
Eden, and Arno killed him in return.
</p>
<p>
Heartbroken over Élise's death, Arno sank into alcoholism and depression once more and ultimately
resolved
to leave France altogether. To this end, he accepted a mission from the Marquis de Sade in Franciade,
where
he met a young boy named Léon. Together, they discovered that Napoleon was planning to use an
artifact buried
beneath the town to take control of France. Initially hesitant to take action, Arno regained his sense
of
duty and put an end to Napoleon's plans, recovering the artifact–an Apple of Eden–in the process.
Arno
decided to remain in France and rejoin the Assassin Brotherhood, eventually rising to the rank of
Master
Assassin. He would sire a child at some point in the future and is an ancestor of Callum Lynch.

<h1>Bayek</h1>
<p>
Bayek of Siwa (born c. 85 BCE), also known by the alias Amun, was one of the last Medjay of Egypt
and the
founder of the Hidden Ones alongside his wife, Aya.
</p>
<p>
Growing up in the remote village of Siwa, Bayek inherited the mantle of Medjay from his father,
Sabu, and
dedicated his life to protecting the security and welfare of his people.
</p>
<p>
This took a dramatic turn in 48 BCE when the Order of the Ancients, a proto-Templar organization,
murdered
his son, Khemu, because the two refused to cooperate in unlocking the Siwa Vault for them. The
grief-stricken
Medjay and his wife thereupon embarked on a quest to avenge their son, systematically assassinating
every
individual who had participated in the plot, only to learn from the exiled queen Cleopatra VII that the
Order's reach and power far exceeded their initial belief. Although wary, Bayek followed Aya's lead
and
pledged his service to Cleopatra as her personal Medjay, in the process embroiling himself in the
Alexandrine<
Civil War against Ptolemy XIII.
</p>
<p>
Following the conflict's conclusion, Cleopatra and her ally, Julius Caesar, openly aligned themselves
with
the Order of the Ancients. In response, Bayek gathered their main allies in Alexandria and established
the
Hidden Ones to counter the Order of the Ancients by fighting to protect innocent people and defend
free will.
</p>
<p>
From that moment on, Bayek led what would someday become the Egyptian Brotherhood of
Assassins, recruiting
24
new members from all walks of life, expanding the organization to the Sinai Peninsula in 38 BCE, and
combating
the oppression and atrocities perpetrated by the new Roman rule. As the forefather of the Assassin
Brotherhood,
he planted the seeds for their progressive philosophy, devising the Creed and its strict tenets on
discretion
and never harming an innocent life.

<p>
Desmond Miles is just a down on his luck bartender in modern day whose life is about to get a lot
more interesting. He is captured by an organization called Abstergo and then gets shoved into a machine
called the Animus, which allows Desmond to time travel.
</p>
<p>
Well, sort of. Desmond doesn't physically leave his prison, but his brain is able to sync up with an
Assassin named Altair from the Third Crusade. Desmond is actually a descendant of Altair, which is how
26
he is able to experience his ancestor's past. Altair jumps from building to building, attempting to stop
Robert de Sable from obtaining a Piece of Eden. We eventually learn throughout the course of the series
that a Piece of Eden is an artifact that was once used by the First Civilization to control humans and force
them to work as slaves. These people, known as "The Precursors" were actually the first beings to call
Earth home. They created the human race and the Pieces of Eden so that they could control their
creations. Humans looked upon these beings as gods.
</p>
<p>
But I digress. Altair's job in the first game is to stop the bad guy from getting the Piece of Eden, killing
many Knights Templars along the way in order to be sworn into the "Brotherhood" of Assassins. Altair
succeeds in killing de Sable, but learns that there is another Templar named Al Mualim, Altair's mentor
and leader of the Assassins, who has the Piece of Eden. Altair finds and kills him, too, because he is a bad
ass. Recovering the Piece of Eden alerts Altair to the fact that there are many other artifacts from this
previous age scattered around the world.
</p>
<p>s
Just as things were getting good, Desmond gets ripped out of the Animus by a woman named Lucy
Stillman. She's a secret mole within the organization that kidnapped Desmond and explains to him that
he is quite important, as all of these ancient memories he's unraveling could reveal a plot for the end of
the world.

Desmond and Lucy break out of his prison. Desmond fights his way out thanks to the skills he picked
up in the Animus. The duo meet up with Lucy's friends in the resistance who have their own Animus,
because of course they do. So Desmond trades one kind of hell for another, voluntarily heading into the
past yet again, this time inside the mind of an assassin named Ezio Auditore de Firenze, who lived and
killed during the Italian Rennissance.
</p>
<p>
We begin our time with Ezio just as he's watching his father and brothers be unjustly executed. Looks
like Desmond's bloodline has had it rough for a while. Ezio swears revenge, which leads him down the
path of the Assassin. We meet many well-known historical figures, including Leonardo da Vinci, as Ezio
begins taking his revenge against the Templars. The Piece of Eden again rears its head, as Ezio learns it's
in the hands of a man named Borgia.
</p>
<p>
A decade passes with Ezio kicking ass, getting closer to his main target. Eventually, he discovers that
Borgia is now the Pope. Which is great, because it's probably going to be super easy to sneak in and
arrange a meeting with the freaking Pope, right? Ezio succeeds and learns that Borgia possesses two
Pieces of Eden, in the form of a staff and an apple.
</p>
<p>
He gets into a fistfight with the Pope....Take a few moments to think about that...Ezio uses these
pieces to unlock a secret chamber where he meets a being named Minerva, who is connected to those
Precursors we mentioned earlier. Minerva allows Ezio to reach out to Desmond directly. Desmond is once
again warned that he is the key to stopping the end of the world. Just then, Abstergo strikes back. They
uncover Desmond's hideout, causing him and the others to make a run for it.

Desmond has escaped the Abstergo agents and reenters the Animus to once again relive the
memories of Ezio. Ezio returns to his family after confronting the Pope, only to find that the son of the
Pope, Cesare, has invaded his home. Ezio's uncle dies in the process and the apple, a Piece of Eden, is
stolen. Ezio once again swears revenge and begins training other young men as assassins. Ezio eventually
confronts Cesare, who has just poisoned his father (the Pope). Cesare is arrested, but is eventually
broken out of his prison.
</p>
<p>
Upon learning of Cesare's escape, Ezio takes his new brotherhood of trained assassins to war against
Cesare and his army. Ezio wins and recovers the apple. He shows Desmond through the Animus where to
find the apple in present day. All seems well, until Desmond runs into another virtual figure named Juno.
Juno takes control of Desmond after learning that Lucy is actually a Templar double agent. Desmond is
forced to stab Lucy and then falls into a coma. This guy just can't catch a break.

Desmond in a coma, but awake inside the Animus. Lucy is dead. It is explained to Desmond that he must
finish off the memories of both Altair and Ezio if he is to regain conciousness.
</p>
<p>
We pick up with an older Ezio following the events of Brotherhood. He journeys to Altair's library in
Masyaf, and learns he needs five keys to unlock its secrets. The Templars are also present and want to
get into the library as well.
</p>
<p>
Ezio follows his own story for a while, meets a love interest named Sofia and eventually finds the keys.
Ezio reads up on what happened to Altair following the death of Al Mualim from the first game. Altair lost
his wife and child but managed to take revenge and implant his memories onto the keys Ezio just
recovered. Ezio locates Altair's corpse and the Piece of Eden he had recovered. Ezio speaks directly to
Desmond, learning he is a conduit into the present day. After that Ezio decides to leave the ways of the
Assassin behind.

Desmond meets another virtual figure from the First Civilization, this one named Jupiter. Jupiter
explains that his brethren tried to use technology to save their planet from a solar flare but it failed.

With Ezio and Altair's stories both wrapped up, AC III introduces us to an new assassin named
Connor.<br>
</p>
<p>
Desmond and friends make their way to New York, looking for a way to stop the world's impending
doom. They open a secret room with the help of a Piece of Eden and find a door that requires another
key. Desmond passes out and is put into the Animus. Desmond syncs with the mind of Haytham Kenway
and eventually his son Connor.
</p>
<p>
Haytham Kenway was a Templar when he met Connor's mother, only no one knows that until it's
revealed at the end of his chapter. But Haytham is revealed to be a Templar spy. He recruits Charles Lee,
who is later responsible for killing Connor's mother. After Connor's mother dies, Connor is taught the
ways of the Assassin by Achilles Davenport. He then helps the Continental Army stop various Templar
plans during the American Revolution. Eventually, Connor confronts his father Haytham, killing him after
learning of his background as a Templar. Connor also kills Charles Lee, his mother's murderer and
recovers an amulet. Juno appears and explains that Connor must bury the amulet.
</p>
<p>
Back in present day, Desmond unburies the amulet, which is the key needed to open the inner door. A
control board appears and Juno implores Desmond to touch it, saying it will stop the solar flare. But just
then, Minerva, the Precursor from the first game, appears and tells Desmond that touching the sphere
will indeed stop the solar flare but it will also release Juno into the real world, which might be a bigger
threat to humanity, being that the Precursors used to be their slave drivers and all.
</p>
<p>
After an argument, Desmond decides to stop the solar flare but he dies in the process. Juno is freed
and ominously says that it is "time to do her work." Which is just great. Really great, Ubisoft. Five games
with Desmond as the protagonist, but all he really manages to accomplish before his demise is keeping
the human race alive so that they can probably be enslaved again. Fantastic. I'm so glad I just dedicated
the last six years of my life to this franchise.

<p>
Anyway, now that I got that out of my system, it's time to journey back in time to a land of pirates. AC
IV: Black Flag follows the story of Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway and grandfather of Connor.
With Desmond gone, the players assume the role of the modern day Abstergo agent. Abstergo can now
view a host's memories of previous lives through a DNA trick. They obtained samples of Desmond's DNA
in the moments after his death.
</p>
<p>
The player assumes the role of a Abstergo researcher and is sent back in time using the DNA to
investigate the story of Edward Kenway. The story is set in the Caribbean and features open-world ship
exploration from island to island. As we know, Abstergo is really a front for the modern day Templars and
29
they are using Edward Kenway to try and search for a First Civilization structure known as the
Observatory. The Observatory allows anyone in the world to be monitored through a blood sample.
</p>
<p>
There are Templars back in Kenway's time who wish to use this ability to blackmail world leaders. In
order to find it, they must locate the "Sage", who is later identified as Bartholomew Roberts. Roberts is
the only one who knows the location of the Observatory. Kenway and the player eventually locate
Roberts, mingling with other crews of famous historical Pirates along the way. Eventually Kenway and
Roberts uncover the Observatory and retrieve its power source but then Kenway is betrayed by Roberts.
Edward is imprisoned but escapes with the help of Ah Tabai, the Assassin Mentor and Edward formally
resolves to join their order. Kenway eventually catches up with Roberts and Templars, retrieving the
artifact, where he seals it away at the Observatory.
</p>
<p>
Back in the present day, the player is contacted by John, who is Abstergo's IT Manager. John lets on
that Abstergo is more than it is letting on and the player is compelled to hack into its security systems,
the information being passed on to Desmond's old friends Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane. As
Abstergo goes into red alert, John allows the player to access the Animus directly, which allows our old
friend Juno to appear.
</p>
<p>
It is revealed that the "Sage" is a human reincarnation of Aita, a member of the First Civilization and...
wait for it... Juno's husband. It is revealed that John is the modern day reincarnation of the "Sage" and
that he was attempting to resurrect Juno, his wife, into the modern world by getting her to possess the
body of the player. But Juno is not strong enough to assume the body of a human. With his plan foiled,
the Sage tries to kill the player, but he is killed by Abstergo security, who now thinks that John is the one
who hacked into the system.
</p>
<p>
The Sage, as Roberts, admits to Kenway that he has no love for the Assassins or the Templars and will
use whichever group he feels gives him the best chance of meeting his goals. The player is contacted by
the Assassins as they continue their work. Everyone, most of all this writer, remains confused as to what
the deal with the Sage is and if we're going to have evil gods walking among us or not.

which takes place during the French and Indian War, is a prequel to the adventures of Connor Kenway,
and wraps up "The North American Trilogy."
</p>
<p>
Cormac is a bit insubordinate, and questions Achilles' leadership. He is sent on a mission across the sea
to Lisbon to find a Piece of Eden before the Templars can get their hands on it. To his horror, the Piece of
Eden causes an earthquake that razes the city much in the same way that another had years before in
Haiti. Cormac decides to steal a manuscript necessary to interpret the artifact and make a run for it. The
Assassin's give chase and manage to shoot Cormac in the back, leaving him for dead.
</p>
<p>
30
Rescued by a ship and taken to New York City, Cormac decides to use his Assassin skills to drive out the
criminal gangs from the city. This gets the attention of George Monro, the city's governor, who decides to
recruit him into the Templar order.
</p>
<p>
Working with Haytham Kenway from AC III, Cormac gives chase to the Assassins before they can find
more of the Pieces of Eden. These particular Pieces aren't weapons, but instead "hold the world
together." Achilles and the rest of the Brotherhood doesn't know this, of course. They're still the good
guys, I guess.

Cormac takes the Assassins down one by one until he corners Achilles deep in the Arctic Circle. All but
defeated, Achilles recognizes that Cormac was right to stop him. Cormac spares Achilles, but Haytham
cripples him as a precaution. Cormac spends the rest of his life locating the remaining Pieces of Eden for
the order, which leads him to the events of Unity...

The first current-gen only installment of the franchise tells the story of Arno Dorian, the son of a
French nobleman and Assassin named Charles, during the French Revolution. After the death of his father
at the hands of Templar Agent Shay Patrick Cormac (who's the star of Rogue) in the Palace of Versaille,
Arno is taken in by the Templar Grand Master of Versaille De La Serre unbeknownst to him that he is now
living with the enemy. Arno also befriends De La Serre's daughter, Elise, during that time.
Understandably, Arno falls a bit astray and ends up in the Bastille after De La Serre is murdered. There's
lots of murder before the game really gets started.
</p>
<p>
Meanwhile in the real world, you are the "player" in this very meta twist to the present day storyline.
You are experiencing the memories of Arno Dorian through an Abstergo gaming device when suddenly
the Assassins hack in to the connection and recruit you to find the Sage once again. And that's pretty
much the entire present day setup of the story.
</p>
<p>
Back in 18th century France, things are getting worse. While locked in the Bastille, Arno is recruited by
an Assassin named Bellec, who is also locked away in the Prison. During the Storming of the Bastille,
which many consider to be the moment that ignited the Revolution, Bellec and Arno manage to escape to
safety.
</p>
<p>
Arno returns to Elise, only to discover that she is now an initiated Templar and technically his enemy.
It is revealed that other members of the Templar order had her father murdered. Arno decides to use his
new Assassin status to kill the conspirators. Things get a bit more complicated (or convoluted) at this
point.
</p>
<p>
While tracking down all the bad guys, Arno runs into a silversmith named Germain, who actually ends
up being the Sage. The Sage plans to ignite a revolt against the King of France. Arno races against time to
stop Sage, but fails to stop the execution of King Louis XVI.
</p>
31
<p>
A big gray area begins to develop as the Templar and Assassin leadership begins to team-up (so to
speak) during the Reign of Terror. What else can they do? They're all being hunted. This doesn't fair well
with Bellec, who plans to purge the Assassin leadership for beginning to agree with Templar beliefs. Arno
is able to kill him before the rogue Assassin can go through with his plan.
</p>
<p>
Arno is banished from the Brotherhood, and is sent into a drunken depression. Elise begs him to
continue his fight against the Templars, who have now amassed more power due to the Sage's
appointment as the Templar Grand Master. Arno confronts Sage, who now has the Sword of Eden (wtf?),
and defeats him. Unfortunately, Elise dies in the struggle.
</p>
<p>
As you'd expect, Arno decides to continue his fight against those who would do Paris harm in the
name of Elise. End credits. Basically.

Templar Grand Master Crawford Starrick has destroyed the Assassin Brotherhood in London and has
taken over the city. He plans to poison the city's population with a "soothing syrup" and assassinate the
Prime Minister. It's up to the Frye twins to take down the Templars before they tear London apart, all
while searching for another pesky Piece of Eden called the Shroud.
</p>
<p>
The Shroud has the power to heal all wounds and make you immortal. It also bestows superhuman
strength. Naturally, that's exactly what Starrick wants. The Frye twins work together to take down
Starrick and recover the Shroud.
</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, in the present timeline, the Assassins are on a mission to find the Shroud before Abstergo
does, and get into a bit of trouble along the way. They also discover that Juno has been manipulating
Abstergo all along and has her own plans for the Shroud, which remain unclear...

<p>
The return of Assassin's Creed takes place all the way at the beginning. The game takes place in
Ancient Egypt during a time of great turmoil within the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Threats of insurrection by the
deposed Cleopatra and a conflict with the Roman Republic looming on the horizon. A Medjay named
32
Bayek must work to protect the Kingdom and its people, and in the process become the world's first
Assassin.

<title>PIECES OF EDEN</title>
</head>
<body background="sd.jpg">
<h1 align="center" style="font-family:century;color:white;">PIECES OF EDEN</h1>
<p>
A Piece of Eden is a type of technologically sophisticated device created by the Isu which reacts with the
network of neurotransmitters engineered into human brains. With the notable exception of the Shrouds
of Eden, the majority of Pieces of Eden were designed for the primary purpose of mentally and physically
controlling human thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. They were therefore the main instrument by
which the Isu forced the humans to serve as slave labour.
<br>
The powers of the Pieces of Eden have mystified humanity over millennia, enough for them to conflate
them with "magic" throughout history. The extinction of the Isu civilization following the Great
Catastrophe only reinforced this, as memories of the Isu for the humans faded into legends and myths.
Since humans lack the technological expertise to reproduce these devices, they have long been the
34
subject of innumerable conflicts between rival humans seeking them for their own ends. In particular,
they are a central obsession of the Templar Order, which has devoted much of their resources for
millennia searching and seizing these artifacts in their quest for world domination.<br>
