II. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The knowledge gained and skills acquired by the students through an internship are the
things that complemented and enhanced the education they obtained in the classroom therefore
Internships, truly are extremely valuable for it give students hands-on practical experience that they
could use in the future. As I’ve started my first day in the company, February 05, 2020 as an intern
student, my schedule was during Wednesdays and Fridays. I will be reporting from 7:00 am to 6:00
pm in my entire said schedule. I was tasked to prepare and summarize the faculty and employee
travel orders, as well as the leave forms. I was also assigned to come with Ma’am Amelia and Ma’am
Leah when they are checking the room schedule and utilization of College of Business and
Accountancy and College of Teacher’s Education. I was also assigned on checking, computing and
encoding the regular load, actual load and honorarium of faculties and lecturers in all colleges. My
experience in the department was assisting and helping them to complete the paper works. We
compile their documents according to their use. I also experience how the company and employees
works during the Auditing season. Honestly speaking I’ve learned a lot but not merely about my
profession which is Accounting Technology. It’s really about the flow of the real world when you
enter in business works. I’ve been an On- The- Job Training for about a month; I observed that the
hardest issue to face is how to prove yourself. I was not exposed to actual office environment but
through the help of the staff and the director, I realized what I really want. I’ve learned how to face
the real world and talked to different people. In my first day, I thought I was not be able to do well
but as time goes by I know I gained more self-confidence and self-esteem. Most importantly how
you manage your time. I can say, I’m happy and fulfilled though I didn't learned accounting stuff and
such but being part of TSU - IAS indeed a good one because of the people involve here. The whole
OJT experience was really a great memory to remember. All the working days, learn the most
important is the attitude, on how to deal with other people.
III. INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE AND LEARNING
I really enjoyed my internship in TSU – Internal Audit Service. I learned how to manage my
time. I think it was tiring but worth it because aside from the technical knowledge that I could get,
the experience of working in a professional environment helped me to learn to adapt or adjust to
new situations easily. Also, it taught me how to behave in a workplace. Simply working in the office
and getting used to everything here has definitely prepared me for whatever my next position may
be.
IV. IMPACT OF INTERNSHIP ON CAREER GOALS
An internship is important, especially, for us students to develop key skills that we can’t get
in a classroom. For me, my internship didn’t have that much impact towards my career goals
because my tasks and responsibilities in there are not all accounting-related. But I think, with the
internship that I’ve accomplished, it gave me a clear vision of what it is to be in a professional
environment. I have improved my skills while gaining confidence in my abilities. I enhanced my
interpersonal skills by meeting and working with new people to practice the essence of teamwork
and gained additional industry knowledge first hand. With these, I think it prepared me to face the
“real world” with an optimism and assurance that I could do everything given that I’m giving my best
effort towards everything.
V. HOW WELL THE ACCOUNTING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM PREPARED ME FOR THE INTERNSHIP?
As we all knew, the Accounting Technology program is designed to equip the students with
knowledge, skills, and values that will make them competent professionals in the field of accounting
in the future. With these, during my days of training at TSU - IAS, I think I didn’t get much hard time
performing different assigned activities. We were “intensely” trained by our professors due to the
difficulties of the subjects included in the said program. Therefore, as an accounting technology
student as I am, I think the Accounting Technology program prepared me well to be competent and
confident in the field where I should be excelling.
VI. RECOMMENDATION TO THE ACCOUNTING TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM
The internship is very essential because it serves as the stepping stone for every student. It
gives us an idea of what is really like to be in a workplace. It also gives us the chance to experience or
to see the so called “real world”. My recommendation is to add more hours on the training because
it could help the students to gain more knowledge, skills, and experience.
VII. DOCUMENTATION
In this photo, I was tasked to encode
