Coronaviruses mainly spread among animals and can infect humans. The first COVID-19 cases were reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019, and the WHO later declared it a pandemic. The virus spreads primarily through close contact with infected individuals via respiratory droplets from coughing and sneezing. It can also spread by touching contaminated surfaces or objects and then touching the face. COVID-19 is highly contagious when symptoms are present.

ORIGIN AND EMERGENCE OF CORONA VIRUS

Coronavirus is a group of viruses that mainly evolves among the animals which are somehow
likely to cause humans also. Bats and also other animals are considered to be as natural
owner of these virus. There is a recent outbreak happened in Wuhan, a city of China in which
the 1st COVID-19 cases were reported with effect from Dec 2019. After that WHO declares
this COVID-19 case a pandemic. A pandemic occurs when a disease that people are not
resistant to spread across the world. Scientists says that COVID-19 is not a lab created virus
but has a natural origin. Some of the researchers says that it is originated from the Wholesale
market of Seafood in Wuhan.

HOW CORONA VIRUS IS SPREADING AROUND THE WORLD AND


WHAT IS THE NATURE OF THIS SPREAD
The most common way of spreading of this virus is through close contact with someone who
is the infected person. There should be a minimum distance of 6 feet to contact with
someone. It is mainly transmitted via small respiratory droplets like sneezing, coughing or
with interaction to someone who is infected from this disease within 1 metre of sphere. It is
mostly spread through person to person contact. People suffering from COVID-19 will breath
out or cough, they expel tiny droplets that contain virus. These droplets containing virus can
also land in nearby surfaces or objects and people pick up those virus by touching these
surfaces or objects. Infection also passes by when any person touches their eyes, nose or
mouth. This disease is contagious when a person’s symptoms are high.
