Two-Way Switch Simulation

I will be using Proteus to demonstrate a two- way switch simulation

- First open proteus isis schematic capture


- Select the components mode from the left toolbar
- Click on P (pick from libraries)
- Added the following components
● A battery
● A lamp
● Interactive SPDT switch
- Placed the components on the workspace and wired up the circuit as shown bellow
- Then click on play button on the bottom left to start simulation

Fig 1 above shows our components wired up and ready for simulation

Results

A two-way switching connection means you can control an electrical equipment like a bulb by two
switches placed at different places.
Two-way switch can be operated from any of the switches independently, meaning whatever the
position of the other switch (ON/OFF) you can control the light with the other switch.

When switches are in opposite states the lamp will be inn an off state as shown in fig 1

Fig 2 shows the lamp in an ON state

When the switches are in the same state the lamp is ON as shown in fig 2

The truth table below shows the state of the lamp of the two-way switch

0 0 0

0 1 1

1 0 1

1 1 0

Where the 0 represents the OFF condition and 1 represents the ON condition
