Name: Jacob Holinger Project Start Date: 05/11/2020
Title of Project: PTSD Professional Interview Project Completion Date: 05/11/2020
1. In 40 words or more describe who benefitted from your project. In other words, what
was the impact?
- The impact my project had is that people will watch it and get a better understanding of
how PTSD works and how people who are affected can cope with it. I want my video to
show people that PTSD is not a crippling disability that's impossible to cure, but that it is
just another hurdle for a person learning to cope.
2. In at least 40 words explain how the project challenged you. How was this a stretch for you?
- This project challenged me in many ways. There were several times where I had to scrap
an idea to change my project completely. My initial project idea was canceled by the
venue owners, and my backup was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I then spent
time coming up with a plan to do my project virtually, and then conduct a professional
interview over the phone, which I have never done before.
3. Go back to your proposal. Find the new skills, enhanced skills, and growth goals. List and
briefly explain what you learned as a result of your project and how you learned it. You must use items
from your proposal, but you may also add unexpected things that you learned!
New skill – Professional Interviews – I sought advice from parents and mentors on how to better
conduct myself virtually
Enhanced – Research – I had to learn to think outside the box on who counted as a professional
I could contact
Growth – Setting Reasonable Goals – I learned from mistakes and started to think small when I
saw I was getting ahead of myself
4. List and describe 5-8 problems you encountered in your project, and briefly describe how you
solved each. Please use a table format as shown in the example below.
- Venue cancelled – I contacted my backup venue
- School closed - I started thinking of virtual projects
- Speaker never responded - I moved quickly to get a new speaker
- Military Restrictions - I could not use an active military counselor for a recorded
interview because of security concerns, so I found a retired one
- Technical knowledge - I did not know how to edit videos so I got help from a friend who
knows how to.
5. List all people who helped you on the project and briefly describe the help given. Use the table
format shown in the example below.
Example
Ty Guzzman Project Consultant: gave me a first person perspective on how the
benefits system worked
Tanya Parsons Military Counselor: Agreed to do a recorded interview for my project
6. How does your completed project compare to the picture you had in mind when you started the
project?
- When I started in January, I had a totally different expectation. I Went from a bike show
to an online interview.
7. If given the opportunity, what would you do differently now that you speak from experience?
- Start planning much farther in advance. I feel if I gave myself more time, I could have
completed my project before the closures
8. Beyond the project itself, what did you learn about yourself? Go back to your personal growth
goals. Did you meet/exceed those goals? If so, how? If not, why not?
- I met most of my goals and I learned new skills. I used to be nervous about contacting
people, but now I can have full confidence when I want to make plans
9. What grade would you give yourself on the project? Justify the evaluation of your grade in at
least 25 words. Please make sure that your project was truly magnificent and be able to
justify it before you give yourself any form of an A.
Grade: _____B_______
Justification:
There were a lot of challenges and I feel I could have done things quicker and more thorough
