UNIVERSITY AT A GLANCE

Jaipur National University, Jaipur came into existence in the year 2007. Two professional
institutes of the Seedling Group, established in 2002, with several technical & professional
programmes of studies, were merged with the University to form a major part of the University.
In 2008, the University was visited by an expert panel of UGC members which accorded
approval to our programmes under clause 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.

In such a short span, JNU has made a niche for itself in the country because of its commitment
to providing quality education and a conducive learning environment. The University is
becoming an obvious choice for professional and technical education, as well as lovers of
quality academic pursuits.

JNU is a premier centre of learning, providing various integrated and interdisciplinary


programmes of study and research in the country.

With the opening of the School of Distance Education and Learning, JNU has taken education
to the doorsteps of those aspirants who, for some reason, could not be a part of regular stream of
education.

The University programmes have approval from all Statutory National Bodies including
UGC/AICTE/PCI/NCTE/BCI for regular courses and from the Joint Committee of UGC-
AICTE-DEC for Distance Education courses.

The University has undertaken Government funded research projects and has forged National
and International tie- ups and collaborations for research.

The Campus Infrastructure is of International Standard, Faculty of International Repute, W ell- stocked
libraries with latest Reference books, Journals, and Periodicals, Open Air Theatre, Auditoria and
Seminar halls, Innovative integration of interdisciplinary streams with special focus on
personality development, Advisory System, Personal Monitoring and Mentor Assistance.

JNU is the only private University in the state to


hold four Convocations- 16 Jan 2010, 16 October
2010, 11 February 2012 and 30 March 2013, for
students of various disciplines since its
establishment. JNU played host to the 80th Annual
Symposium of the National Academy of Services,
India (NASI) on Climate Change. The year 2011
proved to be a milestone in the history of JNU as the

University along with the Department of Science & Technology, State of Rajasthan and GOI,
jointly hosted 19th National Childrens’ Science Congress (NCSC).

The focus is not just on education, but also on the development of necessary skills to confront
the challenges of life. Keeping in view the philanthropic orientation of the Sponsoring Body and
the policies of the State, the University is fulfilling its social responsibility by awarding
scholarships, free ships, arranging remedial add-on courses and other necessary facilities for the
needy students.

the students and teachers to have access to global institutions , which help them in
broadening their intellectual horizons and acquire insight into work culture of different
Nations as well as their ethical and moral impulses.

Guiding Lights
Pro-Chancellor
Prof. K.L. Sharma
Prof. K.L. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Jaipur National University is
also looking after the School of Social Sciences and is the Vice-
Chancellor of Jaipur National University. He was formerly
Professor of Sociology and Rector (Pro-Vice-Chancellor) at
Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was also Vice-
Chancellor of Rajasthan University, Jaipur, during 2003-2005.
Between 1991 to 2006, he was a visiting Professor, five times at
College de France, Paris. His main areas of study and research are
Social Stratification, Tribal and Peasant Movements, Sociology of Legal Profession, etc.
He has authored and edited 23 books and published more than 80 papers.
Prof. Sharma has supervised 35 doctoral students. His students are highly placed in
academia and reputed organizations. In 2002, the UGC honored him with Swami
Pranavanand Saraswati Award for his contributions to the discipline of Sociology. He has
also been honoured with Life Time Achievement Award by the Indian Sociological
Society ( 2012 )

-Vice-Chancellor

Prof. H.N. Verma
Prof. H.N. Verma is Pro- Vice- Chancellor at Jaipur National
University. Earlier he was Professor of Botany, Dean and Pro-
Vice-Chancellor at Lucknow University. His main
teaching/research interests are Microbiology (Virology),
Molecular Biology, Biotechnology including Plant Tissue
Culture.
Prof. Verma has lectured in Germany, France, USA and China.
Currently, he is working on Diagnosis, Characterization and
Management of Virus Diseases of economically important plants.
Prof. Verma has been a member of various professional bodies, both national and
international, and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Science (F.N.A.Sc.). He is
recipient of Birbal Sahni Gold Medal and several awards.
Prof. Verma has supervised more than 50 students for Doctoral research, who occupy
high positions in Universities and Research Organizations. Recently he was honoured
with the ‘ Vigyan Vibhishan Award’ by Uttar Pradesh Science Congress ( 2013)

Prof. Rajesh Mehrotra,

Prof. Rajesh Mehrotra holds Ph.D. in Strategic Management,


MBA with specialization in Marketing from the Faculty of
Management Studies, University of Delhi, New Delhi, and in
Finance from Institute of Management Studies, Indore. He has
received Asia Pacific Award on the occasion of International
Summit at Bangkok (Thailand) for his contribution for
international Integration. For more than 38 years, he has
experienced a blend of Industry and Management Education. He
had rich exposure in the corporate world in field of Strategic / Marketing Management
and in the Rural Management Segment before joining Jaipur National University. Prof.
Mehrotra has served in the Indian and Multinational Companies at senior levels such as
VP/CEO. He has also worked as CEO at Los Angeles, USA. Prof. Mehrotra was
involved in formulation of a project on promotion of Radial Tyres in India in
collaboration with General Tyres, USA. He has been working as Director in Management
Institutions since 2001. He is the Director of School of Business & Management at JNU,
Jaipur

Prof.J.K.Tandon,

Prof. J.K Tandon, M.Com Ph.D. is Research Advisor at School of


Business and Management, Jaipur National University,
Jaipur.Before joining the University; Prof. Tandon served at the
Department of Economic Administration and Financial
Management, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur for nearly four
decades, He was also Dean of Commerce, Faculty and Coordinator
of College Development Council at the University of Rajasthan.
His areas of specialization are: International Business, Economics
and Banking. Prof. Tandon has authored 8 books and published 35 papers in journals of
repute.24 candidates have already completed their doctoral (Ph.D) under his supervision
and 10 candidates are currently pursuing their Ph.D..

School of Business and Management

The School of Business and Management offers Ph.D., MBA (Dual Specialization),
MBA (Honours), PGDM, MBA, BBA and B.Com Programmes, it aims:

 To forge viable relationships between students and the industry on the one hand and
government and academicians on the other.
 To make students professionally competent to work out solutions to the problems of
our society from a scientific perspective.
 To develop an analytical approach so that students can meaningfully relate their
classroom learning to the practical challenges facing today’s knowledge society.
 To inculcate critical thinking, required managerial skills & confidence among the
students, the regular Personality Development Programmes are conducted.
 To encourage research and development skills in management areas inculcating
entrepreneurial qualities.

MBA (Dual Specialization), MBA (Honours), PGDM & MBA programmes (Two-
year full time) are approved by AICTE and the UGC, New Delhi. The programmes
aim to impart specialized education, focusing on corporate sector with professional
thinking and academic excellence. To ensure a balanced education, semester system,

continuous internal evaluation, emphasis on written & oral skills, industrial visits have
been incorporated as an integral part of teaching & training. The global pedagogy,
correlating theory with empirical realities, and inclusion of innovation are core elements
of teaching & learning process.
