Carefully read the caselet and answer the questions that follows.

Mrs. Cameltoe dela Cruz is a Grade 111eacher of Marasbaras Elementary School. She
has been teaching at MES for ten years. She is forty years old physically and mentally. However,
her principal and co-teachers observed that she lacks commitment and devotion to her
profession. She could not render additional time for her class beyond the regular class hours She
would always go on leave without permission from her principal.

She always violates school rules and regulations. Every year she goes abroad to visit her
parents leaving her class without a substitute teacher. She loves imported goods/products and
treats local or Filipino products as inferior. She is not proud being a Filipino. She takes pride in
tolling the good life in other countries and prefers to spend the rest of her life abroad. She even
plans to change her nationality.

Mr. Eleazar Lopez, a principal is so happy because his request for transfer to his
hometown was granted the people in this place look up to him and to the school as a symbol of
hope and progress. He is 50 years old, good natured and well-liked by teachers and students. He
has rapport with the community. The PTCA officers and barangay leaders cooperate with him
for his school programs projects. He always informs the people in the community about the
schools work and accomplishments as well as its needs and problems. He always finds time to
participate in community activities such as the Clean and Geer Movement, Pulong-Pulong sa
Kaunlaran, etc. He leads the community in any undertakings to ensure progress and development

However, he has observed that some of his teachers are somehow indifferent to the
community They don't welcome or entertain complaints from parents. They antagonize the
community. They have a feeling of superiority. They believe that the school will survive without
the support of the community,

Question:

How can the principal improve the situation? Are these teachers right in their perception in the
school and the community? Why?

Miss Virginia Flores is a Master Teacher II at Naval Central School. She is a symbol of
dignity and honor of both her words and actions for the youth to emulate. She is a professional
teacher who possesses the right values, who lives and practice these values and passes on right
values to her learners.

She has the right attitude towards her job. She gives her learners warm and secure
feelings that she is there to help them grow into law-abiding citizens. In like manner, acceptance,
willingness, to listen a feeling of strength and dignity are traits she possesses. She develops
learners who are respectful and obedient. She becomes the source of inspiration to her learners
by leading through her good examples and noble life. She is not only a teacher in school but she
carries the name wherever she goes, be it in the market, the park or on a bus.
She loves her teaching profession and she is proud of it. She is a teacher whose manners
are gentle and refined whose acts of courtesy and politeness reflect a good disposition, serious
and efficient, humane and democratic. Her characteristics mirrors the inner soul which is
appealing to God. She is the total picture of a good role model. Because of these, she is loved by
her superiors, parents and learners.
However, she is oftentimes the favorite subject of teacher’s gossip. She always hears the
following reamarks from her co- teachers:

Bakit ka magpapakabayan? Wala nang martir ngayon

Ayan nang sipsip sa Prinsipal

Gayahin mo kami, everything is all right.

Wala kang mapapala riyan.

Question: Should she be discouraged by these remarks? Why?

Mr. Roger Corto is an English Coordinator in a certain school in Region VIII. He


performs his duties as English Coordinator effectively and efficiently. However, his relationship
with his co-teachers is somewhat questionable. He cannot get along well with his peers/co-
teachers He prefers to work alone in any school activities/endeavor He cannot work with others
in a team He would like to have all the credits accomplishing a certain task even if others are
involved. He believes that nobody can do his work, that nobody can replace him.

He oftentimes criticize his co-teachers in so many ways. Sometimes, he divulges


confidential information about the school and teachers without the principal's knowledge which
causes conflict between and among teachers, school and community

Questions: 1 What can you say about Mr Corto's behavior?

2. If you were Me Corto would you behave the same way as he does?

Read the caselet below the answer the questions that follow.

Mr. Rodolfo Bartolome, a Master Teacher III, is the most senior teacher of Leyte Central
School. The school became the stepping stone of all teachers and principal assigned in the
district of Balluag, North. Being the most senior, he is respected and trusted by his principal. At
first, they work harmoniously with each other. In the succeeding years, little by little, the
principal discovered the true color of Mr. Bartolome. He abuses the kindness and trust his
principal and co-workers. He would even make decisions by passing his principal on school
matters He acts as if he is the principal of that school. In several instances ,he defied the order of
his superiors.

One afternoon, the principal called Mr Bartolome to discuss school related matters. In the
course of their discussion Mr Bartolome raised his voice because his principal would not agree
with his opinions. He uttered bad words and demoralizing remarks to his superior and walked out
of the office. The following day, the principal received an anonymous letter with so many
complaints and false accusations against him. He later discovered that Mr Bartolome did it.

Question.

Are you in favor of Mr. Bartolome behavior towards the principal? Why?

Talavera Elementary School consists of 30 teacher, a principal and two support


personnel. It has a school population of 1,500. The rapport between the school and community is
commendable. People in the place look up to the school as a symbol of hope and progress. The
school is a picture of a happy family. School officials, teachers and other personnel are
courteous, helpful, considerate, sympathetic and show concern for the needs of others. The
principal respects his teachers' opinions and ideas. Everybody in the school participates actively
and cooperatively in any school endeavor. They are all involved in planning, implementing and
evaluating school programs/projects to improve Instruction. The concerted efforts of the
principal, teachers and other personnel resulted to the delivery of quality education in the school.
Talavera Elementary School is a performing school.

The teachers keep abreast with new techniques, strategies and information through their
attendance to various seminars, conferences, workshops, and reading professional magazines,
books, etc

A lot of the teachers from Talavera Elementary school were promoted as school
administrator and master teachers.
