Solve completely. Show all solutions. Box your final answer.
1. MENSA is an international organization for persons with high IQs. Only applicants with IQs 130 or higher
may apply for membership. If a group of adults has IQs which are normally distributed with a mean of 100 and a standard
deviation of 15, what percent of adults may qualify for membership to MENSA? (Sketch the normal curve and solve)

2. A division – wide aptitude test in Mathematics was conducted to 1000 pupils. The mean score of the test is 58
with a standard deviation of 12. The scores also approximate the normal distribution. (Sketch the normal curve and solve)
a.) What is the minimum score to belong to the upper 10% of the group?

b.) What is the score that divides the distribution into two such that 75% of the cases is below it?

c.) Estimate the range of the score that will include the:
i.) middle 50% of the distribution

ii.) middle 99% of the distribution

3. In a job fair, 3000 applicants applied for a job. Their mean age was found to be 28 with a standard deviation of
4 years. (Draw a normal curve distribution and solve)
a.) How many applicants are below 20 years old?

b.) How many have ages between 24 and 32 years?

c.) Find the age such that 80% is below it.
