Reaction Paper about Existentialism
Existentialism is the nature of the human condition as a key philosophical problem and
who share the view that his problem is best addressed through ontology. It emphasizes on the
idea that human exist first and then each individual spends lifetime changing their essence or
nature. It is also a political movement which emphasizes on freedom, choice and individual
existence. Existentialism was flourished in Europe in the 1940s and 1950s and also defined as a
philosophy centered upon the analysis of existence of the way human find theme selves existing
in the world. The nineteenth century philosophers, Soren kierkegard and Friedrich Nietzsche,
came to be seen as a precursurs of the movement , existentialist indeed and identified
existentialism not only a philosophical movement or view but also a cultural movement and
emphasized that it is merely much a literay phenomenon rather than philosophical Existentialism
may also be identified as a philosophical theory which hold that it is necessary to grasp human
existence as governed by the norm of authenticity and to approaches existentialism in this
categorical way may seem to conceal what is often taken to be its heart namely its character as a
gesture of protest against academic philosophy with further set of categories. It must also be
emphasized that existentialist believe that human beings can come to position all related to
existential philosophy , there is still one common similarity in which philosophers agreed, that in
existentialism man exists with a purpose and that existence defines man himself and the world in
his own subjectivity, and wanders between choice and freedom
Existentialism is a philosophy that point out individual existence, freedom and
choice. It is the view that humans define their own meaning in life, and try to make rational
decisions despite existing in an irrational universe. Considering the fact that so many things have
been already said about it and it might seem very hard to us to find a new idea. In fact the
existential theory of human nature, is the one that appeals to me the most because I have learned
that existential is existence freedom and choice. It is the view that humans define their own
meaning of life, and tried to make rational decisions despite of existing in a irrational to gain
knowledge is the tool to be happy. For me the object of consciousnesses is always conscious of
something, so it is define in relation to something else and it is not possible to grasp it. Within a
conscious experience it exist us for it self. Happiness is everyone's ultimate goal. The only thing
good in itself, however a person with a great wisdom can experience happiness fully and
consciously
EXISTENTIALISM a philosophical theory of life in order to achieve such a level.
Even though the ide of existentialism is complex certain themes are common amongst
philosophers. Existentialism declares that the individual must choose his way; there is no
predetermination. Since the universe is meaningless and absurd, people must set their own
ethical standards. The universe does not predetermine moral rules. Each person strives toward a
unique moral perfection. Plato is regarded as one of the greatest philosophers of all time because
his thinking still influences contemporary thoughts. Unlike other authors who vanished in history
as a result of the introduction of more progressive scholars, modern authors have built upon the
ideas of Plato to come up with their own philosophies. Plato was a unique author because of his
versatility, He did not have a specific field like art, religion, or science. This led him to greatly
detest the principles of democracy, which put him in deep collision with numerous leaders.
Democracy, even in the modern society is highly valued but Plato felt that the rule of the
majority was dangerous to the state because the majority could as well decide to perform evil,
which would hurt the many people, especially the minority who did not vote alongside the
majority. In this respect, Plato came out as one of the principled philosophers who never feared
exposing his opinions even when they seemed unpopular. Looking at democracies in the
contemporary world, one cannot fail to notice that his ideals concerning democracy have been
initiated. Apart from establishing an academy for students, Plato is also known for the “allegory
of the cave”, in which he exposed how the society can be blinded by illusions away from the
deep realities
Existentialism can be atheists theological or agnostic. Some existentialist like
Mictzgche, proclaim that "God is dead" and the concept of God is absolute for me. The
important factor for existentialist is the freedom choice to believe or not believe. The most
important thing to do is to believe even if we don’t see God, because by believing and having
faith that he exist can make us stronger human. To see is to believe but to believe in God is to
see. Philosophy is important to our life because it allows us to have subjective thoughts and
feelings as well as the ability to seek connection between mind, body, and spirit and feel the
holism that relates. As a physical educator it's important to be able to understand and know how
to pursue philosophical answers. Human life is a part of history and the enterprise of philosophy
which is a reflection on life is to a great extent delineated in terms of historical environments.
However the fundamentals of human experiences which are the data of philosophical reflection
are the same everywhere. The transitoriness of all things the play of chance, the emotions of love
and hate, fear and jealousy, the continual presence of death, the anxiety to overcome the
corruptibility of things, to enjoy the fleeting moments all of these determine meaning and value
for each person's life. I imagine there are billions of stars and constellations that are constantly
shifting, changing and expanding infinitely to create every single existing thing on earth and
everything all of us have ever known. But I can also imagine God waving his hands like a
magician and all the elements forming to create the earth, the universe, and all the people that
will ever exist.
