COURSE/SUBJECT: CRIMINAL LAW & JURISPRUDENCE 1 (Book 1)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

A course that deals with the study of the general provisions of the Revised Penal Code Book 1, beginning with the general concepts and
principles such as applicability of criminal law, classification of felonies, conspiracy, stages of execution, circumstances affecting criminal
liability, the persons liable, penalties and the extinction thereof.

COURSE OUTCOMES (CO):

In pursuit with OCI mission to provide quality education to every student, imbued with strong moral character through a well-
balanced research and community oriented learning environment that develops critical and creative thinking for maximum development of
individual’s talents and capabilities, at the end of the course, the students should be able to:

1. Describe the concepts governing criminal law under the Philippine judicial system.
2. Develop a firm grasp of the Revised Penal Code Book 1 relative to felonies, stages of execution, conspiracy and proposal to commit
felonies and apply them to realistic scenarios usually encountered in law enforcement.
3. Apply the different circumstances affecting criminal liability to simulated crime situations including how crime is extinguished.
4. Categorize the different personalities responsible for the commission of crimes with respect to the degree of participation and penalties
applicable.
5. Keep abreast with latest issuances and jurisprudence applying, interpreting and defining the provisions of the Revised Penal Code.
