Compare a Biography and Autobiography, build some of the

differences and similarities.

Biography: A biography, or simply bio, is a detailed description of a


person's life. It involves more than just the basic facts like education,
work, relationships, and death; it portrays a person's experience of
these life events. Unlike a profile, a biography presents a subject's
life story, highlighting various aspects of his or her life, including
intimate details of experience, and may include an analysis of the
subject's personality.

Autobiography:

An autobiography is the story of a person’s life written by that


person. Because the author is also the main character of the story
The purpose of an autobiography is to portray the life experiences
and achievements of the author. Therefore, most autobiographies
are written later in the subject’s life

Similarities between biography and autobiography is that they both


written about a person’s life. Also the historical facts in a person’s
life. They are generally written in chronological order.
Differences between a biography and autobiography

A biography:

 Is the story of a person’s life


 Is generally written by a person who did an in-depth study of
someone else’s life
 Can be written with or without the consent of the subject
 Is based on facts about the subject’s life
 Is usually written in third person
 Is objective
 Has the purpose of informing the audience

An autobiography:

 Is the story of one’s own life


 Is generally written by (or with the help of) the subject matter
 Is usually written in first person
 Is based on facts about the subject’s life
 Can also include the subject’s thoughts and feelings about the
events in their life
 Is subjective
 Has the purpose of informing and explaining the motivation
behind the subject’s actions
