Bulletin: Correction Made To Lifetime Cap in A&D and TBI Waiver Services

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration received approval from CMS for a rate increase and methodology change for services provided under the Aged and Disabled and Traumatic Brain Injury waivers. Bulletin BT202006 provided details on the rate changes, which are effective for dates of service on or after February 1, 2020. However, due to a typographical error, the rates for home modifications did not correctly reflect the new $20,000 lifetime cap for the procedure code and modifier S5165 U7 NU. The cap on any single home modification project is $15,000.

INDIANA HEALTH COVERAGE PROGRAMS BT202069 JUNE 4, 2020

Correction made to lifetime cap in A&D and TBI

waiver services
The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) received approval
from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for a rate increase and
methodology change for services provided under the Division of Aging (DA) Aged
and Disabled (A&D) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) waivers.

Changes to rates were provided in detail in Indiana Health Coverage Programs

(IHCP) Bulletin BT202006. The changes are effective for dates of service on or
after February 1, 2020.

Due to a typographical error in BT202006, the rates for home modifications

(formerly environmental modifications) did not reflect the new rates for lifetime limit.
A lifetime cap of $20,000 is available for home modifications – installation
(procedure code and modifier S5165 U7 NU). However, the cap on any single
project is $15,000.
