Attitude Is Everything: 908 Views View Upvoters

The document discusses using one's attitude to make the most of being isolated during a lockdown. The author decided to see their isolation as a personal experiment and used the time to learn new skills like web development, study Chinese, read books, exercise, and reflect on their life and goals. They encourage others to similarly take advantage of the extra time to start a diet, learn new skills, and reflect on what they're grateful for and want to accomplish. The author says times of isolation force us to consider how we are and that we can choose how to live and what direction to take steps in.

Attitude is Everything

Okay. That’s quite cliche—but I think it’s especially relevant when you’re locked down and
isolated, especially when you’re all alone in a foreign country. I’m a fan of Stoic literature, and I
started to remember about how some of them would self-impose hardship on themselves just to
develop mental toughness and equanimity in times of adversity. For me, I just decided this was
like an personal experiment.

For those 4 weeks I stayed home and took the opportunity to teach myself more skills. I practiced
more front end web development and work with content management systems. I read 4–5 books.
I studied Chinese. I exercised.

On the flip side, I could have just freaked out—constantly read doom and gloom stories related
to the virus—and drank myself into an alcohol-induced coma. Instead, I used the time to reflect
on the past few years of my life—and what steps I should be taking during such a unique time in
order to introduce new habits and reinforce old ones.

Been meaning to start a diet? Do it now while you’re isolating yourself and you’ll emerge from
your self-imposed quarantine a healthier and better looking person.

Want to brush up on some skills? Now you have more time and less excuses than before.

Wish you had time for reflection? Well now is a perfect time to put some perspective on things
and be aware of what you should be grateful for and what you want to accomplish in 2020.

Where ever you go, there you are. Times like these force us to pause and consider how we are
right at this moment. So just use this space and this time to realize, you can choose the kind of
life you want to live—and today—you have a special chunk of time blocked out for you to take
steps in whatever direction you wish.

I had only two months left in my graduation. It was a mid-sem break, and I was at home.
Due to the lockdown, My college has decided to run the remaining semester entirely online.

Nobody had any clue that our hostel-life would have such a terrible end. I couldn't even say
goodbye to my friends. I was spending my whole time between four walls. It felt like someone
pulled away nails from my fingers.

Somehow, I was experiencing negative emotions. My mind was like a drunk horse running here
and there.

I was overthinking on unnecessary stuff, spending hours watching random YouTube videos.

Hey folks!

The Coronavirus lockdown has indeed taught a lot of lessons and is going to teach more with
each passing lockdown day. But the following three lessons are the highlights and I wish to share
with the world.

#1. "Sometimes you need a little crisis to get your adrenaline flowing and help you realize your
potential." - Jeannette Walls

It was frustrating sitting ideal at home thinking about all the financial crunches waiting ahead.
Suddenly, I realized why not use my free time to do something creative. I started working on my
blog, I wrote 3 to 4 blog articles based on that I started applyi

Learning from this lockdown!!

Everyone used to say life is moving so fast that they are not able to spend much time with
family, children etc. Many had not taken leave for so many yrs due to work pressure & missed
many celebrations. We knew only morning and night(Missed many evenings). We didn't know
about many small things which were used to happened in our home daily. We had forgotten to
appreciate many little efforts(goes unnoticed) of our family members at home. We used to
complain that now we don't get Summer Vacation. So many complains like not getting time to

Prolonged Lockdown is impacting so many people - poor, unemployed, daily wages workers and
many more. Even providing food can be helpful. Humanity comes above all, is what I learnt

Spend time on lending a helping hand for those affected due to this crisis situation by
involving in relief work. Yes relief work can be done sitting at home, use your social media
connections to help boost people looking for help and build the bridges in the gap. Lend money
to known people who are directly involved in it. This will 100% make you feel better, out of my
personal experience. :) No help is too little, e

I am under total isolation because I am over 65 and am in an assisted living facility.I learned that
I can do without going into the outside world. I am happy being in my room and writing without
interruptions. I don't need apples and ramen soup. I appreciate the importance of friends and
family. It's like going back to a simpler lifestyle. I am going to continue my simple lifestyle after
the end of the pandemic. I hope that there will be major changes in the way people live their lives
in the future.
