World's lengthiest written constitution had 395 articles in 22 parts and 8 schedules
at the time of commencement. Now Constitution of India has 448 articles in 25
parts and 12 schedules. There are 103 amendments have been made in the
Indian constitution so far.

Parts-- a group of articles together forms a single part .for example,articles 1 to 4 will be
in part 1 with heading as union and its territories , articles from 5 to 11 will be in part 2
with heading as citizenship ,articles from 12 to 51 will be in part 3 with heading as
fundamental rights and so on.they are 22 numbered parts in constitution and 25
number of parts.

Schedules--contains the articles which has list of items.for example ,schedule 1 contains
list of states( their area their boundaries their capitals),schedule 11 contains 29 items of
panchayath raj system ,schedule 12 contains 18 items of municipalities

Articles-- the way three wings of the government (legislative,executive,judiciary) should


work,rights and duties given to the people,how India should be is mentioned in the
articles.

Parts - Units 
 Like Algebra, Geometry etc., are the Units in
mathematics OR kinematics, optics etc., are units
in physics.

Articles - Chapters 
 Like functions, real numbers, inequalities, exponents,
polynomials etc., are chapters under algebra.
Appendixes - Schedules 
 Schedules are lists in the constitution that categorizes
and tabulates bureaucratic activity and policy of the
government.
 In other words, Schedules give extra information
about the points referred to in various articles of the
constitution.
 The 12 Schedules present in the Indian Constitution
will make our understanding and interpretations of the
constitution better.
