1. How important historical writings are to a person, group/race, and country?

  

The historical writings that were gathered by the researchers was a huge
influence in forming a government and culture. Starting to the ancient system of writing
down to the present one, our ancestors were able to keep record, communicate and
created some of the memorable literature works. Through these resources or materials
that we have, the citizens of a country can able to learn and get information about the
past events that occurred. Historical evidence paved the way in developing and
sustaining an identity to one’s race. Therefore, history writings are significant in
cultivating the distinctiveness of the people and the country itself.

2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of accessing online primary


sources?  

Primary sources provide us an unfiltered access to the record of historical


evidence during the specific period. Accessing online primary source present offer us a
quick and easy introduction to the topic that we are searching. Online primary sources
can give us a high-quality information and references. However, searching for online
primary sources can be difficult in identifying the credibility and validity because anyone
can make a webpage. Also, some primary sources that is available online requires
payment which is inconvenient for the students.

3. What is Historical Criticism? 

Historical criticism, also called historical-critical method wherein it scrutinizes the


origins of the ancient texts to comprehend its original historical context. This criticism
began during 17th century. An ancient text can also serve as document and record for
reconstructing the true nature of the happenings. The rationale for this assessment is
the tools of historical science. This branch of criticism is comprising of several
disciplines.

4. Do you believe that writing history is subjective? 

Writing history is a complicated task which includes disagreements and debates


among different schools of thought. The historical evidence such as archaeological and
literary texts do not give a precise image of the past civilizations or society from which
information could be taken out. Also, some of the sources are too old, incomplete, and
distorted due to the ravages of time. This led the historians to only write their theories
and hypotheses about a specific event. Thus, there are chances that history can be
subjective.

     
5. What are the benefits of using primary sources?

A primary source is an original material that was created at the actual time or
within its time. This are used by the historians because it is reliable. There are benefits
in using primary sources especially for the historians and students. The benefit of
referring to a primary source is that you can have confidence knowingly that it is
untarnished and intact. The materials can largely be recognized back to the original
creator.
