Sofiplus 2018: Non-Effective Parts-Line

This document describes how to define non-effective parts in a cross section using SOFiPLUS 2018 software. Users can create a non-effective parts line using either pick points to define a polygon or pick existing lines/curves. The non-effective parts line excludes selected areas from normal force, primary/secondary bending calculations. Users can modify existing non-effective parts lines and choose single element or polygonal input modes when defining the line.

For the creation of non-effective parts, the following options are


available:

Pick Points

Creates an element with the input of a minimum of 3 polygonal points.

Pick Lines or Curves

Creates an element by enclosing an area with the selected objects. Valid selection
choices include closed polylines and lines.

Single Element Mode - Polygonal Input

Switches between the polygonal input type and entry of a single element. Single ele-
ment mode always asks for the start and end point of a new element.
