ITOGON

Itogon is located at the southeast end of the Benguet, forming a border with the provinces of Nueva
Vizcaya (on the west) and Pangasinan (on the south). The town is bounded by Baguio City and the
municipality of Tuba on the west, La Trinidad and Tublay on the north-west, Bokod on the north-east,
Kayapa and Santa Fe on the southeast, San Manuel and San Nicolas on the south, and Sison on the
south-west.

TOURIST SPOTS

ASIN HOT SPRING

It is a potential natural attraction found in Dalupirip. The hot spring is located along the Agno River. Its
distinctive and health-giving water for hot bath and spa is an ideal end to the weary traveler and the
interested visitor. The site can be reached on foot in less than an hour from the barangay center of
Dalupirip.

MONGSO CAVE

It is a potential natural attraction found in Dalupirip. It is a natural cave that attracts spelunkers.

BIDAWAN (AVE MARIA) MOUNTAIN

It is a potential natural attraction found in Poblacion. It is a mountain, which with its scenic views, is
good for trekking. The grotto located along the way is an added attraction to Marian devotees.

DAYNET CAMPSITE

It is a potential natural attraction found in Ampucao. For a laid back feel of the land, this part of the
Daynet trail offers a diverse experience for camping and nature communing. The trail offers a view of
the reservoir of the recently built San Roque Multi-purpose Dam.

MT. UGO

It is emerging natural attraction found in Tinongdan. Towering at 2,150 meters above sea level it is most
often shrouded with clouds. The mountain gained attention being the crash site of at least three
aircrafts: a UC45 CAB in the early 1960s, a PAL plane in 1987 and one of the helicopters doing rescue
operations to the ill-fated plane. About two kilometers from the foot of the, mountain is the remote
village, Sitio Domolpos, where a vanishing, called the lowaks, thrive in their natural habitat and unique
lifestyle. They are the people who helped locate the ill-fated plane. Now they need mountain trekkers
and intrepid travelers to a rugged and challenging walk in the area.

It is fast gaining popularity as an alternate destination for a mountain trekkers and climbers next to Mt.
Pulag.

It is accessible in three-ways: first is taking PUB up to the junction of Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya then hiking
through the town for about 2 ½ hours; second, is taking up a PUJ to barangay Tinongdan, Itogon then
continuing on foot for about 5 hours; and third, scaling from barangay Dalupirip, some mountains for 5
hours. The trek is definitely not for beginners.

SUYOK FALLS

It is a potential natural attraction found in Dalupirip. The falls is about 30 meters high. It supplies water
to the rice paddies of the barangay and tributary to Agno River. Its source of water is from Mt. Marikit
and Mt. Palanchey.

Visitors can enjoy its view from a distance. The site offers good shower and bath areas on its base.

It is about 500 meters hike from the Asin Hot Springs across the Agno River or about an hour hike from
barangay Dalupirip.

MT. MARIKIT

It is an emerging natural attraction found in Tinongdan. This impressive mountain offers endless
opportunities to the adventurous tourist: trekking, site seeing, camping and mountain climbing. The
winding uphill and downhill foot trail alone has its potable water stop over, hanging footbridges to
excite visitors and captivating waterfalls oozing with charm. Among the other attraction along the way
are the Adashu burial cave, Ambasa cave and Baloy hot springs.

A story goes that water drips from a rock strangely formed like a woman's organ.

Mt. Marikit is located in Dalupirip and Tinongdan, about 12 kilometers or 4 hours hike from Tinongdan
barangay and 4-5 kilometers away from barangay Dalupirip.

SALAPSAP CREEK
It is a potential natural attraction found in Dalupirip. This freshwater creek is a favorite outdoor
destination for the local people because besides bathing and picnic grounds, it offers fishing and hunting
activities.

BALATOC MINES VILLAGE

This is an existing man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. It is the oldest mine in the province
as well as in the country that was first opened in 1903. After it closed for some time due to the high
costs of production, the low price of gold and other metals on a global scale, the site was opened to the
public. One can experience the thrill of becoming a miner, complete with all the miner' gadgets and
tools. Visitors can see and even experience how gold ores are extracted from the earth and processed.
This includes the Crosby Park, Balatoc Lake and the Villaluna Center.

Balatoc is only a 45-minute ride from the City of Baguio. Reservations may be made in advance for
groups and educational tours.
BINGA DAM

This is an existing man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. Constructed in 1958 along the
Agno River, the dam used to generate 100 megawatts daily, supplying electric power for major parts of
Luzon, including Manila. Its powerhouse and reservoir continuously attract visitors who are mostly on
educational tour. It also offers scenic views and one can enjoy the beauty of nature with its pristine
surroundings.

To go there, it takes less than an hour drive from Poblacion, Itogon. It is about 24 kms away from Baguio
City.

PHILEX - DAYNET - ADVENTURE TRAIL

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. This old trail offers a magnificent
view of San Roque Dam reservoir while enjoying a walk, with diverse bushes and trees. The trail is about
12 to 14 kms long. It offers a campsite and picnic area. It is located in the hills from Dam 3 of the Philex
mines to Daynet, Ampocao.

MUMMIES OF DOMOLPOS

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. The mummies are centuries old,
the great ancestors of the i'owak tribe. The same can only be viewed when the native rituals are
performed including the offering and butchering of animals. This can be reached via the trail that goes to
Mt. Ugo.

THE IBALOI HUT

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. Made up of indigenous materials;
it was built in 1938 at Lusod, Tinongdan Barangay. This indigenous pre-war hut remains resolute and
stands sturdily despite the Word War II built holes in the timber pillars.

SAN ROQUE DAM

This is an existing man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. Aside from its scenic view from a
number of angles within the municipality, the tail end at the Dalupirip area is also ideal for boating and
fishing.

To go there, take the route to Tinongdan and Dalupirip. Alternatively, it can be reached via San Manuel
Pangasinan.

GUMATDANG CUTFLOWER GARDEN

This is potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. Though privately owned, the same
are being offered for tourist visits. There are varieties of flowers such as roses, chrysanthemums,
gladiola, and others. The area also has rice paddies and papaya plantation.
LABILAB ROSE GARDEN

This is a potential man-made attraction of the municipality of Itogon. Although privately owned, tourists
and visitors are welcome to this cut flower farm. These are old houses made of indigenous materials
based on ancient designs. They provide a glimpse on the culture and traditions of the inhabitants of the
place.
