Stick electrodes for welding of stainless steels

The effect of the 12.5% chrome content is that corrosion and chemical resistant steels
do not rust.
Nickel in combination with chrome provides extensive resistance to the effects of corro-
sive chemicals.
Molybdenum stabilises the passive state and significantly increases the resistance to
pitting.
Titanium and niobium are alloyed in certain grades for the purpose of forming stable
carbides so as to increase resistance to intercrystalline corrosion.
The austenitic structure gives the steel excellent strength.
The addition of copper to Cr-Ni-Mo steels has often proved advantageous if materials
are to be exposed to particularly aggressive substances such as sulphuric acid or phos-
phoric acid.
Further requirements regarding appropriate additives are quite admissible if there are
particular demands mode of the weld metal. We should be only too happy to help solve
any such problems. The Welding Advice Section of our Quality Control Service is at your
disposal.
