Environment
workbench tops are made from saligna gum trees (Eucalyptus Grandis Hill Ex Maid), commercially grown in
South Africa. This evergreen tree, can reach a height of 72 meters in favourable conditions and can be identified by its dark
green, lance shaped leaves (darker above and lighter beneath) and clean columnar bole, off which the bark peels in long thin
strips, to expose a smooth greyish-white, or greenish surface. Its flowers, which arise in stalked clusters, have cream
coloured stamens. The origin of the species, now grown in cultivated South African forests, was from Australia, (from the
warm, humid, coastal regions of central and northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland).

Since the climatic conditions in the eastern and northern districts of Mpumalanga and Zululand, South Africa, closely
compare with those of New South Wales and Queensland, Australia, plants have easily been raised from seeds in nurseries,
for transfer to suitable locations, thus transforming, once bare slopes, into magnificent forests. Sustainably managed,
renewable plantations adhere to international cultivation and harvesting environmental standards, thus obviating destruction
of the earth's resources, and ensuring an environmentally friendly product.

The wood combines colours of creamy straw, salmon pinkish to reddish brown, mostly straight-grained, but sometimes
attractively figured, is of medium density, thus moderately strong and hard. Among the many purposes for which it is used,
are m etmeister workstation tops, furniture, joinery, panelling, flooring (tongue & groove), ceilings and skirtings.

Welcome to the fourth Metmeister catalogue. Although we say it every year, it always seems amazing
how quick a mere 12 months can go by. The last year has seen a new Pope in the Vatican, a new future
“Queen” at Windsor castle and the Rand, after its usual fluctuations, gaining some strength.

The last year has also seen many changes at Metmeister. . Not to our great quality and uncompromising
commitment to superior workmanship, of course, but to our range and products.

If you have worked with us before you will know that Metmeister prides itself on being more than a
storage systems manufacturer. We're a solutions company, tailor-making hardworking, hardwearing and,
we humbly suggest, rather attractive storage systems and workbenches. Our passion for world-class
standards means that each piece stands as a testimony to our motto “Manufactured to last”.

Take a look at some of our latest editions, for example. In the last year, we have introduced modular
storage systems for vehicles. These systems transform an ordinary truck or van into a practical,
multifunctional workhorse. They create excellent service conditions for the trade, resulting in streamline
efficiency and cost effectiveness. Although, relatively new to our line-up, customers are already expressing
their satisfaction with this addition.

Another new innovation is the large range of general trolleys that have been designed and manufactured. It
goes without saying that our usual exacting standards have been applied to this range, ensuring a highly
practical, dependable and durable addition to your workspace. We have also extended the existing range of
drawer cabinets, trolleys and compact storage units. The new sizes produced now include 56 x 36 drawer
cabinets.

Although Metmeister is known for its innovative new products, we believe that growth also comes from
constant improving of the old. As a result, modifications to existing equipment are implemented on an
ongoing basis. In fact, we have recently spent some time perfecting our storage equipment for tool holders.
These fit into cabinets, trolleys, table units and drawer cabinets.

We have also improved our facilities, installing and commissioning the latest technology in Epoxy Powder
Coating. This further ensures that all Metmeister products meet the highest standards of quality and
finish.

1

Drawers are designed for heavy loads, manufactured from quality sheetsteel. Sidewalls,
floors and drawer front are formed in one piece, rails, rear wall and floor stiffener are
welded on to complete the drawer. The removable drawer front faceplate provides
additional stiffening and carries the drawer handle. The drawer walls are formed with
slots at 36mm distance, whereas the floor is perforated with the same grid dimensions.
Mechanical end stops are provided against drawer run-out. Drawers are fitted with
precision steel ball bearings and rear rubber stops for silent closing. All metal parts are
epoxy coated.

Drawer cabinets fitted with “full-extension” drawers, are to be bolted to the floor, for
safety reasons.
Drawers with full extension, have an evenly spread load capacity of 200kg, achieved by
a fitted undercarriage, which is manufactured from 3mm quality sheet steel. A
combination of single and full extension drawers is possible.

A selection of dividers and slotted partitions are available to optimise material and tools
of any kind. Plastic containers, troughs and even rubber mats, which have been laser
cut to accommodate specific tooling, revealing the shape of the item being stored and
rendering easy identification of missing items, are offered.

The drawer safety catch, in addition to the existing lock, has been developed for the
mobile workshops used in the defence force, in order to prevent unwanted opening and
closing of the drawer while driving. This application is also used commercially.

The robust cabinet housing is made from a single piece of sheetsteel

casing with profile and welded carrier elements at the front and rear.
Cabinets are fitted with recessed vinyl tops as a standard feature.

Work top made from laminated saligna timber commercially grown in

the Eastern Province of South Africa with bullnose rounded edges
and fitted with backstay.

The drawer handles have 2 marking areas (for colour coding and
inscriptions) secured by plastic end caps.

The dual action, central locking system with barrel lock

and single drawer release button, will prevent inadvertent opening of
more than one drawer. Barrel locks are supplied with two keys. The
arrangement of the locking system prevents any force on lock or key.

Drawer cabinets are factory fitted with floor anchoring

brackets.

Drawer cabinets and front plates are manufactured from 1.2mm quality steel and are
epoxy powder coated to RAL standard. See colour chart on page 10 for colour selection.
Drawers ranging from 50mm to 300mm height, can be set in any configuration. Cabinets
are fitted with recessed vinyl tops as a standard feature, (to prevent articles falling off the
cabinet tops) or if desired, Saligna work tops, which would cost extra, This aspect
applies to all the cabinets, except the C400 range, which have plain steel tops. A non-
standard application, for the storage of electronic components, is the earthing of drawers
to a common connection on the cabinet for static discharge. (Additionally charged

Combination of a mobile workbench, cabinet with two adjustable shelves and a drawer cabinet. The 100mm rubber
castors comprise two fixed, two swivel and two brakes. It has a Saligna top fitted with vinyl, and a backstay on three sides,

Combination of a mobile trolley with versatile worktop and a large tool cabinet. Trolley consists of one lockable door with
two height adjustable shelves on one side and a lockable drawer cabinet on the other. The 100mm rubber castors
comprise two fixed, two swivel and two brakes. It also has a handle on each side for easy manoeuvring. In short, it is a
compact workshop on its own.
The top cabinet is fitted with perforated plates and a large selection of tool holders. For easy access of equipment the
holders and prongs are secured from the front with super quick fasteners. These can be moved easily to various positions
without tools.
Included are: 8 x perforated plates, 1 x 16 way flat spanner holder, 1 x 9 way star screwdriver holder, 1 x 9 way allen key
holder,1 x 4 way hacksaw holder, 2 x Tray with 6 utility boxes, 1 x 26 way drill bit holder, 1 x 3 way plier holder, 20 x
different prongs, 1 x 19 way socket holder, 1 x ring holder, and 1 x 5 way punch holder.

Trolley fitted with vinyl top is accessible from front and rear via 4
doors. Doors have lever locks for padlocking facilities (front and

All purpose trolleys with 2 , 3 or 4 trays are available. Trays are manufactured from quality cold rolled sheet steel or
stainless steel. Framework is manufactured from 25mm square tubing. For heavy loads, an extra stiffener at the bottom of
the tray will be added. The all-purpose trolley is fitted with two swivel and two fixed castors. Dimensions of trolley is Width
560mm x Depth 900mm x Height 930mm . Loading capacity 120kg, epoxy coated in light grey RAL7032 texture.

The Computer trolley is of welded, robust construction, lockable for safe storage of computer hardware. The keyboard is
situated in the drawer and the monitor is fitted in the top enclosure behind a glass or perspex door. The trolley is supplied with
a 3 pin socket outlet, 3m cabtyre cable and plug. The CPU is ventilated by side louvres. Rubber castors of 100mm dia. are
fitted 2 fixed, 2 swivel and 1 brake. Fans can be supplied as an optional extra.

WKS100-18GS workbench fitted with a 12 volt DC small part washer drawer cabinet. The timber saligna worktop and back
stay has been covered with 1.6mm zinc galvanised sheetsteel. A stiffener plate is fitted between the rear legs for added
strength.The drawer cabinet comprises of 2 extra drawers of 50mm, 1 drawer of 200mm (small parts washer) Special care has

Robust modular trolley manufactured from 3mm quality steel and 2mm tubing. Epoxy powder coated in RAL
5005. Trolley base is zinc galvanised and fitted with 12mm laminated plywood, using wood inserts. Durable side
sheets are utilised instead of wire mesh. Tubular frames are easily added per your requirements.
Rubber castors of 150mm are fitted, 2 fixed and 2 swivel. Plywood is lacquered for resistance against damp.
Two lengths or standard trolleys are available, i.e. 800 and 1200mm to accommodate 2 or 3 Euro containers
(600 x 400mm)

Ergonomic workstations are adjustable from heights of 650 to 900mm. The EW1 workstations and WKS101-103 have
worktops of 32mm particle board, one side laminated with high pressure lamination (colour folkstone grey) and underside
laminated with brown backer. The lamination is 3mm PVC and is edged all around, colour black. Framework and drawer
cabinet are epoxy coated in RAL 7005 and RAL 7035. The drawer cabinet comprises 3 drawers of 100mm each. Four
10Amp 2 pin and four 16Amp 3 pin socket outlets (for South Africa) are fitted. A double tube fluorescent light fitting is
underneath the shelf. A tray accommodating 12 utility boxes is fitted above the socket outlets.

EW2 Workstation
1 Ergonomic workstations and trolleys are adjustable from heights of 650-900mm. The rigid tubular
frame work is epoxy powder coated in RAL 7005, the drawer cabinet, shelf and enclosure for plug
sockets in RAL 7035. The EW2 workstations and trolleys have worktops of 32mm particle board,
laminated with high pressure lamination (colour folkstone grey) The lamination is 3mm PVC and
edged all around in black colour. Workstations are extendable and easy installed in a L shape.
They are fitted with four 10A 2 pin and four 3 pin socket outlets. Socket outlets and light fittings are
wired up and connected to a 2m long cabtyre cable with plug.

Space-saver Workbench
This compact robust workbench is ideal where space may be a problem. It comprises stable steel legs with a backstay,
32mm supawood top, which is clad in galvanised sheet steel with one lockable drawer of 150mm,underneath the worktop.
The quality drawer runs on bearings and is able to accommodate a load of 80kgs.
The perforated plates mounted at the rear of the bench accommodate all necessary tools and utility boxes by means of
holders, prongs and rings, which are movable with quick fasteners, without the use of tools.
A plug top with three, three pin socket outlets is mounted on the one side of the workbench for on hand electrical
connection. Alternatively this workbench is offered with utility boxes to hold multiple accessories, for your convenience.

with break. Perforated sides allow tool holder trays to be horizontally installed or tilted in 26 or 45 degree. Tool holder trays
are secured with supa quick fasteners and can be moved easily to various positions. Two A4 drawing holders stacked

Drawers are 100% fully extendable. Drawers with full extension have an evenly spread capacity of 200kg achieved by a fitted
undercarriage. The metmeister dual action central locking system, will prevent opening more than one drawer
simultaneously. Cabinets are fitted with recessed vinyl tops.

Industrial cabinets

The “Maximiser” is an industrial cabinet, robustly built,

manufactured from 1.6mm sheet steel. It has been optimized and
offers incredible space on a small floor area.
Epoxy coated in RAL 7035 light grey. The cabinet contains
5 shelves with METMEISTER bins. 20 x SB210, 3x SB 315,
1 shelf suitable for files. Lockable doors are equipped with
40 x SB105 METMEISTER bins for additional storage space.
Doors are strengthened for extra load. Bins are firmly secured by
horizontal rails, but easy to move. 3 Drawers are fitted with full
extension, suitable for approx 40kg distributed load. Adjustable
threaded rods are fitted in the front of the cabinet for levelling on
uneven surface.

Industrial cabinets

The “Maximiser” is an industrial cabinet, robustly built,

manufactured from 1.6mm sheet steel. It has been optimized and
offers incredible space on a small floor area.
Epoxy coated in RAL 7035 light grey. The cabinet contains
3 shelves with METMEISTER bins 10 x SB210, 3 x SB315.
Lockable doors are equipped with 40 x SB105 METMEISTER
bins for additional storage space. Doors are strengthened for
extra load. Bins are firmly secured by horizontal rails, but easy
to move. 1 shelf fitted with a 32mm laminated worktop in durable
PVC light grey, (folkstone grey) hinged to move 90 degrees in the
lockable up position suitable to store tower and monitor. 1 Shelf
suitable for files. 3 Drawers are fitted with full extension, suitable
for approx 40kg distributed load. Adjustable threaded rods are
fitted in the front of the cabinet for levelling on uneven surface.
Files and computer equipment are excluded.

1 shelf suitable for files. Lockable doors are equipped with
40 x METMEISTER SB105 bins for additional storage space.
Doors are strengthened for extra load. Bins are firmly secured by
horizontal rails, but easy to move. Adjustable threaded rods are
fitted in the front of the cabinet for levelling on uneven surfaces.
Files are excluded.

Louvre panels from METMEISTER allow bins to be suspended on walls, workbenches, in cabinets or freestanding units.
Bins can be hooked onto the louvre panels in any position and various configurations to allow organised and concentrated
small parts storage. Louvre panels are supplied complete with the necessary fixings for brickwork walls . They are available
in epoxy powder paint or zinc electroplated. The zinc electroplated version provides a good corrosion-proof protection and
is less expensive than the epoxy powder coat.

Freestanding louvre panel racks available in 1400mm and 1800mm heights, can be configured in double and single sided
applications. Louvre panels are removable, allowing the racks to be reconfigured or dismantled for ease of transportation
and handling. Common supports are used for runs of two or more freestanding units.
Adjustable feet are fitted to overcome uneven floors and a bolted assembly with lateral gussets ensures a robust

Metmeister pallet racking consists of components roll formed from quality sheet steel and epoxy powder coated in standard
RAL 5015 blue and orange

Basic components

A range of 5 options are provided by offering 2 profiles in alternative steel thickness giving load capacity from 6 to 18 tons
per bay. Frames are a fully bolted construction which allows any damaged to be replaced without need of renewing the
complete frame. Provision is made for floor fixing in the blue plates of each upright.

Beams(Horizontal pallet supports) Orange

Available in a wide range of profiles to meet the load requirements of almost any application. The boltless locking action of
beam to upright provides positive location whilst offering easy adjustment in a 76mm pitch vertically.

A range of additional accessories are available to convert standard pallet racking into drum storage racking, heavy duty

Electro static discharge (ESD) Products

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) causes damage to electronic components or may influence their reliability. Walking on a
synthetic carpet may charge the body with 35000 volts, the sensitivity of an EPROM may be at 100 volts. Consequentially,
serious risk prevails, in that, electronic parts will not function.

Operator and workstation shall connect to earth via 1M ohm resistors for protection. METMEISTER provides a range of

service industries, for the purpose of recording activities such as time, parts, material and progress. Job card holders are
manufactured from 1.2mm quality steel in modern design, produced in two colours, epoxy coated. These are manufactured in
single units, which may be stacked horizontally and/or vertically, so that width and height are per clients choice. Swivel
castors are fitted with brakes. Price on application only, because of variation of choice.

METMEISTER lockers and seat bench are rigid and made

from 1.2mm and 2mm heavy duty quality steel, epoxy
coated in beige texture. Bench seats are from pine wood,
protected with clear lacquer. Compartments are fitted with
1 shelf, wardrobe rail, 3 sliding coat hooks. Bullet hinges
are used, fully mig welded to doors and locker
compartment. Ventilation by 2 sets of louvres in
compartment doors, for standard units, as well as extra
ventilation slots on enclosure top. Alternative perforated
doors in various designs are offered. Cam locks with 2
keys. Pad lockable 3 point lever locks (only for full length
door) are available.

Industrial mobile shelving

This industrial mobile shelving has been designed for heavy loads. It runs very smoothly on rails and is operated manually
by the rotation of the star wheel, which is easy to turn. Very little effort has to be exerted to move the units. Once the units
are together the last unit is lockable, thus denying access to the entire system.

These units can be installed on an exisitng floor. The system is manufactured from Chromadek. This system would carry a
guarantee for up to ten years for the paint finish. It is a rigid product and is modular and boltless. For transport purposes, it
can be dissembled into a quarter of its volume.

Space saving system allows increased storage capacities. It provides accessibility and compares
favourably to other storage systems. The modular multifile system glides with ease on a surface
mounted rail. Installation time is at a minimum. The multifile system can be installed on existing floors, no
grouting or skimming of floors, lifting of carpets, bolting to floors and walls is required. The units are
manufactured from Chromadek (except the flooring). The multifile system is coated in light grey
RAL 7032. This system would carry a guarantee of up to 10 years. It is a rigid product and is modular
and boltless. For transport purposes, it can be dissembled into a quarter of its volume.

Over and above its aesthetic attributes, Chromadek paint coatings are designed to provide superior
corrosion protection under conditions where the performance of unpainted galvanized sheeting may
prove inadequate. Furthermore, the coatings exhibit excellent formability and elasticity to facilitate roll
profiling and bending operations without damage to the paint coating.
Excellent paint adhesion is achieved and corrosion resistance enhanced by careful preparation of the
steel surface prior to paint application.
Standard Chromadek is able to withstand mildly chemically polluted or moderate marine conditions, and
is composed of Z275 hot-dip galvanized sustrate pre-primed with a primer (dry film thickness (DFT) of 46
microns), and finished with a final paint coat (DFT)10-22 microns, on the top surface.

The system can be expanded as follows:

Single stationary row
Double row (where the rear row is stationary and the front row moves laterally)
Triple row (where the rear row is stationary while the front and middle rows move laterally)

Modular Vehicle Storage System.

This modular system is designed for service vehicles and is directed at the trade, such as auto-mechanics, service staff,
plumbers, electricians, painters, air conditioning technicians, appliance technicians, etc.

The great benefit is that a service vehicle can transport an entire workshop to the point of work, right where the need is. Service to
the end customer is so much more efficient, fast and comprehensive, yielding savings in time/cost and resulting in great customer
service and satisfaction.

The system is compatible with Citroen, Fiat, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Renault, and VW. The system is so
adaptable that any vehicle can be fitted out with it. Being modular, one is able to mix and match elements to create many
configurations for all types of requirements, allowing for maximum vehicle pay load.

Great attention has been paid to safety and security aspects, with a central locking and catch system on drawers, as well as a
