Where technique

meets magnificance
“ ,,
Sustainability is not just using sustainable raw material. It
should reflect in the designs in terms of versatility .
Darshi Shah

Darshi Shah is a London College of Fashion, UK alumni. Her magnificent and unique silhouette design is
what makes her Ahmedabad’s one of the most creative designers when it comes to occasion wear.
Besides being known as a profound fashion designer, she is the purest soul you will come across and proba-
bly the most approachable. A spiritual soul who has found contentment in her work and rigorous reading.
She carries a personality that Is strong and fearless. A well-marked and empowered woman who never fails
to empower youth and serving as an idol. She has been awarded the YOUTH ICON OF THE YEAR by the
Women’s Wing of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI Women’Wing). A combination of
grace and dignity, she stands unmatched.
Bhavin Trivedi

Bhavin Trivedi is a National Institute of Fashion Technology alumni; graduated as a dexterous fashion
designer, keen on sharing his knowledge to the maximal. Besides being a phenomenal designer, there is a
side of him that not many are acquainted to.

People often call him Google. Not only is he curious about learning new things but also his willingness to
share it further is what has brought him into the teaching profession.
Spending time at the organisation, I have had an insight through short stories he likes to share every now
and then as snippets from his life while he waters his plants or sow’s new seeds. He says, “creativity comes
from lack of resources”. He shared, growing up in a middle class family, he was a boy with big dreams but
minimal resources which lead him to figure out and create things on his own which has given him a broad-
er view of the spectrum and made him what he is today.
An exquisite equilibrium striking a balance between com-
mercial and couture, the label is in the line since 2010.
When we stand gazing at an outfit, we often find ourselves
thinking what makes this peculiar and is it worth the
money? When we decide spending on something that is
“different and unique”, something that is one of its kind.
Often do we realise that our definition of “different” is a re-
flection of the societal inputs on fashion or at least so when
we talk about Indian culture. Something that we refer to
as unique but not unconventional. Well.. this is a perfect
place for all your conventionally unique desires. Where
there is a thought invested behind every single outfit, a
thought to make a value addition and reuse every possible
inch of the outfit to make it versatile. An attempt to meet
the changing global trends as well as to contribute a fair
share into the sustainability driven industry.
Intertwined Threads
Design Philosophy
A good design is more than just good aesthetics. They say: “you can’t truly appreciate a design until you start using it. That’s
the only way to experience all the subtle touches, all the things tangible and intangible that make a great design”. The designs
at DSBT are created, keeping in mind various body types and fits. Considering that each body type is beautiful and unique in
its own way, the outfits are designed such that it compliments all body types and acknowledging the fact that every individual
should feel comfortable and confident. They design to bring out the best in you! regardless of social acceptances on ideal body
types.
In an aeon wherein fast fashion is a want and sustainability is a need, DSBT has managed to find a midway out. They design
outfit sets that can be split and restyled in multiple ways to create various looks, which leads to the overused yet very essential
term “sustainibility”.Sustainability is not just using sustainable raw material. It should reflect in the designs in terms of versa-
tility .
The Reel of
Exquisiteness
The collections are eclectic and diverse, ranging from smart semi-formal occasion-wear to
heavy bridal wear. The designs are meant for all occasions, big or small. The designs are
inspired by nature and Art Movements. Liveliness of the birds, the delicate forms of a gar-
den flora, the richness of Baroque and Art Noveau, all come alive in the collections. A smart
and magnificent blend where tradition meets contemporary. Every single piece is a work of
art, intricate and extraordinary. What makes DSBT stand apart is that it’s a bridge be-
tween commercial brand and a design house. The Label offers curated sarees and designer
outfits with designs as unique as a design house and range as wide as a commercial brand.
For Her...

Saree’s and Blouse’s

Blouses are glamorously designed with frilled edges, spaghetti straps,

tie-up fronts and the most flattering necklines like a raised neckline,
scooped necks, boat necks etc. DSBT makes sensuous corsets reminiscent
of the classic Elizabethan times and some are embellished further to make
garments befitting a princess.
Limited edition Sarees, exclusive Panetars and Lehenga Sarees are a speciality.
Every piece is unique in itself. Curated and exclusively hand picked sarees
from banaras with an added touch of intricate hand embroidery is a special
feature. The rich, beautiful and magnificent modification adds up to the roy-
alty and beaty.
Lehnga Choli

Chaniya Cholis, Lehengas, Shararas for Brides and Bridesmaids are their
forte. They are known for combining various types of hand embroideries.
Majestic, breathtaking and intricate from the neck to the hem, every inch
of the fabric is thoughtfully utilised to make the piece extravagant. The
motifs are inspired from nature and translated into Baroque style.
A Western Touch

The Gowns at DSBT have the glamour of the west while keeping in mind the
modesty associated with the Indian culture. In turn, the Classic Indian Em-
broidery used on them makes them fit for a queen. Bolero Jackets, Shrugs,
Long Jackets etc are given a touch of classic Indian Embroidery and coupled
with Gowns to make a regal ensemble.

Sherwani’s

The Sherwanis have innovative cuts, placement embroidery and uncon-

ventional fabrics unlike menswear stores that remain limited to run-of-
the-mill Dulha Collection. Besides traditional Sherwanis and Indowestern
groom’s clothing, DSBT has a lot more for the Man’s wardrobe ranging
from Linen Kurtas for a Sunday afternoon.
Tuxedo’s and Indowestern

DSBT is known for their adaptation of Baroque elements into their design
language. The incorporation of classic Baroque drapes are a speciality at
DSBT. The use of drapes in womenswear and other traditional sillhouettes
is something we have already seen before but drapes in menswear like
blazers and overcoats is unique and distinctive.
Distinctive cuts and sillhouettes

For the niche who is always in search of something unique yet classic and
elegant, they have a special range that serves to such niche. The sillhouettes
are simple yet eccentric. Beautiful floral hand embroidery and asymetrical
necklines add a touchof exquisiteness.
A splendid combination of strong, smart and structured sillhouettes and
elegant, flowy drapes dyed in mesmerising ombre overcoats combine and
make a perfect look. A subtle touch of traditonal embroidery makes the
collection a perfect fit for festive occasions.
Nostalgia is a very powerful emotion!
“Because nostalgia delivers pleasure, it also sells.”
It is bealieved that nostalgia provokes positive emotions of happiness, belonging and
connection.Which has inspired the designers to convert the studio into a mini world of
nostalgia.
Besides being outstanding Fashion Designers that they are, Darshi Shah and Bhavin
Trivedi decided to add a very personal and thoughtfull touch to the interior of the studio.
As soon as you enter the studio, it feels like you have time travelled into the past. Instead
of apointing an Interior designer, the designers decided they wanted it to be personal so
they would design it themselves. Every small detailing has been taken into consideration.
The interior is a beautiful amalgamation of vintage cultures throught the world.
The studio is designed more like a fashion lounge so that the clients feel like they are
indulging and not shopping. The elements of the interiors are chosen from colonial
mansions and combined with those of ‘havelis’. The vintage artifacts, Moroccan lamps,
exposed bricks, stucco like plaster, lush garden around the studio all have a soothing ef-
fect. Rawness and subtle sophistication are juxtaposed throughout the space. From the
chaos of the city lights and traffic when you enter the studio, the soothing warm white
lights and the welcoming vibe calms all the senses. Display methods of garments and
fabrics are innovatively worked out for a refreshing yet user-friendly experience.

One can not only see intricasy in outfits but it also reflects in the interior. Every small
piece of artifact adds up to the look and each one has a story of its own about how it
made it up to the shelf. The studio also has a beautiful welcoming space specially de-
signed for discussiond on customization. The cealing is covered in beautiful tinted glass
lamps and the room is claded with racks full of rich fabrics ranging from simple, elegant
and classy to intricate and royal.
The studio is split into multiple galleries on different levels connected with stairs. Every
gallery has a different vintage theme or vibe of its own. One has vintage jars and trunks,
the other has a fireplace and vintage books. The studio also consits of a basement gallery
that has been turned into an exhibiton space. The space is utilised by the young design-
ers who wish to feature their collection under the label as a collaboration. Darshi Shah
amd Bhavin Trivedi have been in the forefront when it comes to inspiring and encourag-
ing the millenial designers.
Everything is extreme at DSBT. There are times when the studio is converted into a
standup comedy stage, the other times is feels like a story narration workshop, it also at
times transforms into a debate room and may be a warzone at times. From scary pranks
and funny stories to knowlege sharing, DSBT is a wide spectrum. Its either black or white
at DSBT, there is no grey. To conclude, i would like to share snippets of incidents from my
journey in DSBT.
