Alternative Medicines
1. Acupressure – is an alternative medicine technique similar in principle to
acupuncture. It is based on the concept of life energy which flows through "meridians"
in the body. In treatment, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points with the
aim of clearing blockages in these meridians.
2. Acupuncture – is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of traditional
Chinese medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body. Acupuncture is a
pseudoscience because the theories and practices of TCM are not based on scientific
knowledge, and it has been characterized as quackery.
3. Aromatherapy – is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to
promote health and well-being. Sometimes it's called essential oil therapy.
Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the
body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.
4. Chiropractic – is a form of alternative medicine mostly concerned with the
diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system,
especially the spine.
5. Herbal Medicine/Phytomedicine – is the study of the botany and use of medicinal
plants. Plants have been the basis for medical treatments through much of human
history, and such traditional medicine is still widely practiced today.
6. Massage – is the manipulation of soft tissues in the body. Massage techniques are
commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet, or a device. The
purpose of massage is generally for the treatment of body stress or pain
7. Nutrition Therapy – is the treatment of a medical condition, for example diabetes
mellitus, through changes in diet, by adjusting quantity, quality and methods of nutrient
intake.
8. Pranic Healing – works on the believe that prana or energy can heal ailments of
the body. It is a simple and yet very powerful method that can be used to provide
immediate benefits to the patient. It is life force energy, so pranic healing balances the
imbalance energy field and transfers life force to that human body. It is not about
healer’s energy, it is just the universal energy.
9. Reflexology – also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving
application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand
techniques without the use of oil or lotion.

processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It is also said to
induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and
improve overall wellbeing.
